Story
The past was cold as is his exterior. Neptune won’t talk about it. And he won’t open it. But it did shape his superiority complex as well as his bitterness towards his brother.
When Sun’s mother died and they formed their group called the Solar System, Neptune was in charge of the Kuiper belt. Like how Jupiter takes care of the asteroid belts. While Jup loves them as if they were his children, Neptune acts as if they are his underlings and he was the supreme leader. Sure he was snooty, but the little planet had the potential. And he was great at keeping the kids in order. As time went on, he had grown attached to them. Subconsciously defending them and guiding them when things go messy. When Pluto’s truth as a dwarf planet came out, he was the only one who defended his friend’s “planet” title.
What comes after is his pride and joy. He started to develop a great charisma and started polishing his skills. He signed himself to the Marines and quickly climbed the ranks. At first, it was to distance him from his brother and to make him feel more noble. It was an unpleasant experience, sure, but it was well worth it. Years of boot-licking and doing whatever he can to get on the top finally repaid. Neptune was promoted into an admiral (Thanks to Pluto) and was blessed by one of the Gods. All the praises and achievements fueled his pride. He had never felt this fulfilled. No longer was he a weak child, but he never matured. He was still the rowdy teenager he once was. Neptune was content with what he had.
But he wanted more. He invited all of the kuiper belt members to join the navy. He insisted Uranus work there as his personal “assistant” (Janitor, actually) as a treat of revenge. Uranus was oblivious though. He didn’t want to but financially, he had no choice but to work for him. So he did. After Uranus applied himself, things began to improve drastically. His assessments were better than ever. And his tactics and strategies were creative and worked amazingly well. Praises upon praises stacked onto his great “work”. He was joyous. Oh but how could he forget about his brother! He raised a little more of his payment after every victory he earned. Besides, those aren’t the work of the admiral’s brain. But rather the Janitor’s.
When Neptune heard of his brother’s claim of how he wants to be a god again, He laughed his ass off. Why would a loser who reads comic books on the daily become a god? Has he become delusional? Has he lost his mind? But Uranus proved by changing the sky with the tip of his hand. He created a storm. And he changed it again to a bright sunny sky in the brink of time. And it suddenly went cloudy. Neptune was… Surprised. As well as jealous. How did he get to be more powerful than him? What if everyone knows his brother is much greater than him? He had enough of Uranus overshadowing his achievements. But… Perhaps if he helped his brother, he might be able to be on the same level as him. And perhaps, he can finally be on his own without the help of Uranus.
After Sun disappeared with no trace, he began his journey. Might as well search for her while "finding" a way for Uranus to become God again. He discovered many things, as well as the ugly truth of him and his brother's future.
