Profile

I am my d̷̫̬̍̽̆̏é̶̗̰̺̌̃͝m̵̋̄̄o̶͖͇̓n̴̫̫̥̈̓̇̅s

Name: Koteru Yuuro Hinokoe
Gender: Male
Birthday: February 13
Pronouns: He/his/him (sometimes they)
Species: Half kitsune, half human, a demon
Theme: [link]
Voice: Mix of mostly Mike Shinoda: [link]+ a bit of a lower Antony Del Rio[link]
A fox spirit that was seen as a curse because of his bloodline. He believes it as well, considering that a lot of people in his life had ruined it out of fear.

Trivia

Read every book in his family's house back to back, even cookbooks. He even travels to abandoned libraries to read.
He writes his own poetry, which he can give as blessings. If someone requests for his help, he writes the blessings on their body. In a modern AU, he likes listening to rap music and would try to incorporate his poetry into musical form. Some say that he would be so wise with his words that he can end a fight without throwing any fists.
Koteru is fond of drawing and painting, picking up the hobby from his mother, being very skilled in drawing portraits at a young age before eventually moving onto other designs. In a modern AU, Koteru works as a part time tattoo artist.
Koteru has experience in aerial silk dancing, starting at the age of 15. It was not only for practising his flexibility, but also performed during festivals and celebrations in the village. He sort of stopped at the age of 20, but he still tampers with the hanging silk from time to time.
Koteru is immune to illusory magic, hallucinogens, and mind control. Due to being a fox spirit, he doesn't fall for any tricks and is able to see right through them. Relating to hallucinations, say if you were to make him take LSD, he wouldn't experience any psychedelic imagery, and if sounds are in the mix, he wouldn't hear any of them. Hypnotism is a bust as well, as it would only bring him to sleep, or at best, a drunken state of sleep deprivity. He won't follow the hypnotist's orders. Any musical instrument meant to charm and calm also do nothing.
It's common for fox spirits that if you touch their tail, they will curse you, however, when Koteru's tails are touched, they're sensitive. He does still say that his tails are cursed however, to prevent people from touching them.

TOBI ZUGRAVESCU HINOKOE
Brother

His twin brother. He was protective of him as kids but over the years it drifted apart due to Tobi avoiding the drama Koteru gets into. When it came to growing up alongside him, he tried to make him and Koteru liked upon the spirits and humans, but because of Koteru's background and shyness, people opened up to Tobi more than his brother, which was upsetting for Tobi. Tobi does try to make some efforts to help him, but he can't stand seeing Koteru so hurt, or his family so upset.

EGAN DIONYSUS
Son

Koteru adopts him. He used to live a pretty rough life too, so he sees his personality in Egan, and Egan thinks the same as well. Egan even helped Koteru finally be at peace...for a while.

ASAHI HINOKOE
Father

Due to a love triangle, out of fear for not wanting Koteru to die at the council's hands, Asahi tried to make Koteru a divine fox spirit, which included stressful, strict training, to the point that if Koteru left at any point of training, he would punish him for it. The scars on Koteru's left cheek are from him. He was also afraid of Koteru showing his true demonic form, so he would often keep him home. From Koteru's standpoint, he despises him. He often tries to sneak out of the home, but because his father never told him about the deal he made, his father would do anything to keep him from leaving. Even imprisoning him in his own home.

BELLANY ZUGRAVESCU HINOKOE
Mother

Bellany sometimes feels that Koteru's unlucky upbringing was her fault. Because she was human, people from the spirit and living realm found her strange and an outcast, just like Koteru and Tobi. Despite everyone making her an outcast, she still had love to give to her son, making sure that both of them were able to grow healthy and strong. She made sure that Koteru knew that she cared for him with the circumstances he's in, but he feels as if he'll become a burden to her, so he pushes her away and tells her that he can manage on his own.

SHINATA KUROSAKI
Enemy

His once friend turned into an obssessed sociopath that wanted Koteru for himself. Shinata pushed people away from Koteru so that he could be the only one Koteru trusted for support until he realized his sick plans on wanting Koteru to be with him.

Designer: Melomiku

Koteru has blue hair, and two different coloured eyes: the right (your left) is brown while the left (your right) is turquoise. He has two kitsune tattoos that represent the fact that he's part of a set of twins, as well as his fox deity talisman on his back. He's got a strong build and quite toned, with his height being at 5'7" or around 170cm. He has three scars on the left (your right) side of his cheek.

In his spirit form, he has hair that's half-tied into a bun, and the rest of his hair being loose all the way to his lower calves, with hair loops to the sides of his face. He wears a blue and white kariginu. He has nine tails and a pair of fox ears which are a lighter, slightly desaturated blue from his hair. His markings consist of red paint around the eyes and red markings that resemble "whiskers." (please ignore the fact hat his reference picture of him in his gallery of this form has him with gray whiskers)

Positive traits: Intelligent, Empathetic, Doting, Perceptive

Neutral traits: Aggressive, Self-Conscious

Negative traits: Violent, Sensitive, Stubborn, Pessimistic

  • Introvert Extrovert
  • Intuitive Observant
  • Thinking Feeling
  • Judging Prospecting
  • Assertive Turbulent

Koteru's mostly seen as someone with a hostile attitude, building up walls to hide from society because of how they perceive him. He's very wary with people who visit the shrine for blessings, but he's found himself to be comfortable later on as most of the people had no ill-intent, though there are some who know about his demonic blood and the other rumours that surround him and has only shown signs that they wanted to avoid him or he would hear it himself. He'd brush it off and claim he doesn't care, however, he couldn't shake the negativity off as it started to make him grow exhausted, cutting deep into his already low self-esteem. To his kinder (or rather clueless about Koteru) customers, he's patient, making sure they are comfortable in his presence, sometimes admitting to more anxious newcomers that he'd be nervous too if he was meeting someone with supernatural power.

In regards to Koteru's mental state, he suffers from anxiety, depression and trauma. It's difficult for him to try and get a positive outlook on life, he sometimes can't push himself to do daily chores and he can't even do hobbies without this nagging voice in the back of his head. This voice consisted of all the discrimination he's faced and the painful thought that it's going to appear again and there's nothing he could do about it. He wants to escape from his father's shrine because of Asahi's overbearing rules that went so far as to give his son scars for even daring to think about leaving. It came to the point that he imprisons him in his own home, but at the same time, he can't face society as they only think of him as an outcast that only caused trouble. Both environments made him believe that he was bad and was punished for even existing in someone's presence all because he wasn't able to live up to their expectations. It limited his ability to grow and he almost lost himself as who he's supposed to be, believing that if he was born bad, then he's always bad.

When he's given the chance to try and be himself, however, he's intelligent, caring, and is a talented writer and artist, even breaking down the walls he's built up to people he holds close. He has everyone's best interests at heart, he's strong, resilient, and an overall great father and brother.

When it comes to his sexuality and romantic interests, he's demiromantic/demisexual, having strong feelings after having a close bond with a specific person. As for eventually falling in love with someone, he's shy, jittery and can be a mess, but when he truly does love someone he will do everything he can to make them know that they're loved and they matter.

Abilities

Hellfire

Hellfire was inherited due to the fact he's a distant descendant of the Satanic family. It burns through everything and anything, consuming the soul. He is able to absorb it into him and project it as a fireball or a stream of fire. He even consumes the dying souls into his body, unknowingly making him grow strong.

Form Change

Koteru has the ability to change into three forms: his human form, spirit form, and his fox form. In his spirit form, he has his fox ears and nine tails, as well as a white and navy blue kariginu and geta. In his fox form, as a child (around 1-8 years old) he starts off a little smaller than a fox. As he grows much bigger (9-17), he's around the size of a large wolf, and once he gets older, (18-adulthood) he's the size of a 10-storey building, or around 43 meters tall.

Female Form

Koteru has the ability to transform into a female form of himself, in which he refers to herself as Kogame. He uses it for the usual illusory purposes or to hide his identity. He can also change to other female forms but that's rarely done. In this form, he's NOT an illusion, he actually has the physical appearance of a female.

Soul Consumption

Not much of an ability, it came with the package of being the devil's great great grandnephew. If he doesn't want to use his hellfire, he'll eat the soul instead. This is a rather rare occasion, though, since he just relies on his hellfire.

Heat Absorption

Able to absorb heat at will to maintain the temperature around him, like his own little bubble. He's also able to absorb things that produce/ give off immense heat, such as regular fire or even lightning bolts. However, it comes to the cost of him having to expell it in a form of hellfire if too much is absorbed.

Story

Chapter 1

Koteru's story starts back before he was born. In the spirit world, the watchful eye of the high fox council reigned over everyone. They were a group of divine fox spirits that let new kin practice their teachings, and ones who were exceptional were able to be a member and serve as crucial authority figures that created the basis of adequacy and regulation in the spirit world. These members consisted of five white-furred fox spirits, three women and two men: the eldest male as well as being the eldest out of all of them, Kiyoishi, being the main judge, Seigiki, the eldest female, the second judge, Hanami, the middle eldest, the third judge, Tsunshi, the second yongest and youngest male, the law enforcer, and finally the youngest female and youngest of the members, Yuki, the executioner. A newly acquired kyuubi by the name of Asahi Hinokoe was one of their students that they had to keep a very close eye upon. His trace amounts of demonic blood and mostly blue fur that was reminiscent of that of the Satanic family was something of grave concern, and they relied on the council to handle. This was not their first encounter with Hinokoe, however, as his ancestry of fox spirits had met with the council before. Other spirits of high positions (though not as high as the council) were always alert when it came to this lineage, though some say that overtime, the recent ancestors had been more mellow. Asahi was one of them, calm and composed while keeping his nose up. He was diligent, disciplined and loyal to the members, to the sophisticated spirits' surprise. Asahi's diligence was soon noticed by Hanami and Seigiki, who both fell in love with the fox spirit. They never fought for his affections, rather, they made a promise that if one was with him, they would support the other. However, the one that mostly wanted his affections was Hanami, who did her best to make sure Asahi had abided to every rule and did well in his lessons, secretly showing bias towards him. Since Asahi was the most loyal of the new collection of fox spirits, they thought that he was mostly being something close to a teacher's pet, however, Asahi seemed to be oblivious to it. He did appreciate her help, but would turn down some of it when he wants to work fairly in his studies, which made Hanami fall in love with him more for his determination. Seigiki, although sometimes happy with Hanami's advancements, would tell her to be careful how smothering she was, as he could notice. Hanami just scoffs and claims that she's just being a little jealous, but she secretly does heed Seigiki's words.

There was a time where Asahi was in his own shrine and granted blessings to humans, where he was never seen by Seigiki or Hanami for a long time. Time in the spirit world passed by quicker than that of the living realm, as it would have been already a few months for Asahi and several years for the fox spirits. Seigiki decided to visit and see how Asahi was doing on living realm while the shrine was not busy. She would come over to have tea and talk, though she did drop a few questions that hinted to what he found insteresting in a woman, but Asahi responded that he wasn't sure and that he was more focused on his studies. Seigiki only replied that someone had been interested in him for a long time, but never specified who. It would be several months until Seigiki would visit again, only to find another surprise waiting for her. She would arrive while the shrine was not busy, but found Asahi still chatting with a woman, who didn't seem to be native of the country. As she watched him leave, Seigiki saw an uncharacteristic wide smile upon Asahi's face. During their tea time, Asahi had stated words she didn't think she would hear from him: "I've fallen in love."

Seigiki reported the bit of news to Hanami, who was left in disbelief, telling Seigiki to show her the woman. Arriving at the shrine, lo and behold, was Asahi speaking with the same woman Seigiki had seen before, with the additional shift of his calm, stoic attitude to something more cheerful as he interacted with this human. To add to Hanami's shock she watched as Asahi handed her a flower he claimed he picked earlier awaiting for her arrival, and picked up a name from her: Bellany. Heartbroken, Hanami and Seigiki leave the shrine. Hanami took the news worst of all as she felt that her efforts were for nothing, but Seigiki tried to lift her hopes up by saying that this Bellany probably didn't feel the same way. However, knowing how long Asahi's been tending to his shrine, Seigiki wasn't sure how long Asahi had these feelings. They've worked together to keep Asahi away from Bellany, even confronting the woman and telling her lies about Asahi that would make him seem unlikeable. However, one of their efforts seemed to work as they've convinced the other council members that Asahi needed to stay in the spirit world because of his noticeably elongated stay in the living realm and needed to get back to his training. When the two ladies relay the information to Asahi, they find him with Bellany once again. Before leaving, he confesses his love for Bellany, to the fox spirits's dismay, and before Asahi would get to know her response, they pull him away from the shrine and back into the spirit world.

The council noticed that Asahi's performance was quite low during several years in the spirit world. Asahi had been feeling depressed after having to leave Bellany, and Hanami and Seigiki did their best to help brighten his mood, but to no avail. Asahi had seemed more concentrated in his training more than ever and he disregarded every attempt by the other council members, especially Hanami and Seigiki who took him away from his only love. Whenever one of them appeared to help him, his responses were cold, blunt answers, or he'd even ignore their presence. Hanami tried to convince him that Bellany could have been just taking Bukku for granted with his blessings, but Asahi retorted that she had done nothing wrong to him and how they could just suddenly take him away without telling him beforehand. Hanami had no answer that wouldn't tell him that she actually liked him which would probably make him hate her even more, so she lied that it was the council's orders and she couldn't stop it even when she said no. Annoyed, Asahi continued his training, until he had eventually finished and held a celebration for his hard work and diligence, claiming that his moral compass and fierce loyalty could claim him a spot in the council. He enjoyed none of it.

During that night after the celebration, he felt an odd feeling in him, and he was transported back to the living realm in front of Bellany. Asahi wasn't sure how he managed to appear only to find out from Bellany that since his departure she had been trying her best to see him again through different summoning techniques. She had also reciprocated his feelings that same day. They spent their night together, which resulted in Asahi spending the next months awaiting for his children. As he stayed in the living realm, Bellany had told him about what the spirits have told her about him, but as Asahi listened, he noticed that none of it was true. He started to wonder what they were doing if they started off being so nice to him and then spread lies. Bellany claims that they were trying to keep her away from him, picking up info from other spirits she has summoned. It finally clicked to Asahi why everything had happened: keeping him in the spirit world, their doting nature towards only him, and their rumours only enraged Asahi. He told Bellany to place a spell on him so that his presence cannot be sensed by the fox spirits, and so she did, laying a hidden tag inside his sleeve, keeping him hidden from the council so that Asahi resided with humans, taking on a human form in the time being (without his ears and tails). For a while, he decided to stay away from the shrine.

Meanwhile in the spirit world, the council was starting to get worried about Asahi's whereabouts, as they were considering giving him a position in the council today. Hanami and Seigiki checked the shrine once in a while, but to their disappointment he didn't seem to show up. Kiyoishi tells Seigiki and Tsunshi to go look for him in the living world at his shrine, thinking that he couldn't have gotten far. After 3 months, due to the couple having to constantly move just in case the council members were out looking for them, they eventually find them near a temple far off in the East of the land, taking the couple away and bring them to the court. During that time, Bellany was close to giving birth. Kiyoishi was disappointed in Asahi for secretly having a relationship with a human. Hanami made the decision that Bellany should be killed for having tempted a fox of high position, and before Kiyoishi could even question why they would kill the human, Bellany collapses, her children arriving earlier than expected. Asahi asked the council for anyone that could help her, with Hanami disagreeing, but Kiyoishi immediately tells Yuki to get the health staff to help Bellany deliver the baby, though judging the size of her womb, they assumed more than one. After a couple of hours, twin boys were born: Koteru and Tobi. Yuki congratulated the couple for having twins, though the other council members were hesitant as they see Koteru being the next kitsune in line, but the colour of the fur had no sign of the divine white fur they possess. The fur was mostly blue, with accents of black, a similar colour scheme of Asahi's first ancestor, the one closest to the Satanic family. To Asahi and Bellany's despair, they had to kill Koteru to take out the risk of him possibly causing chaos if he has as much demonic blood as they think. Hanami happily agreed, while Seigiki was a little hesitant, but she agreed as well, if Asahi caused this much heartache for her close friend. Tsunshi felt that this was wrong, but they couldn't take any chances and told Yuki to take the baby. Yuki held Koteru, however before she could do anything, Asahi stopped her, telling them that there has to be some other way. Seigiki, opposed to just simply killing the child, she whispered to Hanami that the council and Asahi should let the child try to prove himself that he's not as demonic as they think, but put so much pressure that he'll eventually snap, wait until he wreaked havoc, and then kill him for having true demonic blood. Hanami liked the idea and relayed it to Asahi. What she had said to him was:

"If you are able to make your son, Koteru, worthy of being respected on this holy ground, we shall spare his life. However, if he were to show any acts that oppose the regulations formed by this council or show that he truly is of demonic blood, past his 10th birthday, his life is forfeit."

With that, Hanami places her finger upon her lips, a wave of energy spreading across the village to seal the deal. "And no one can mention a word about it." She thought.
