About

Mielle is the daughter of Juniper, the Bumblebun princess, which in some circles would make her also a princess, but she is really only of noble rank. Her mother's best friend, Princess Asta, insisted on giving Mielle and her brother titles to go with their noble class, since Bumblebuns don't have any of their own, so she is superficially a Duchess. Mielle knew this early on and has always liked to play at being a fine lady, dressing up in frilly, shiny outfits and holding "balls" and issuing orders and proclamations to her toys, but it really is only a game to her, which is just as well since she and her family live far from the Bumblebun court and will most likely never participate in or even see it.

Mielle has never been disappointed with her ordinary lot in life and enjoys the same things many children do: playing with her friends during the day, spending mornings and evenings with family, and sleeping in a cozy, safe bed at night. She does like to dream and think that maybe something new, big, and exciting will be coming to her in the future, but she's more than happy to enjoy the here and now in the meantime. To Mielle, the anticipation is what makes life sweet.

Story Summary

Since she is still very young, Mielle's story is really just beginning. She hatched not long after her mother came of age, and was immediately welcomed into her mother's extended family along with her twin, Puca. This came about just before the decree that no more Bumblebun eggs would be laid went out from the Queen, so she and her brother are among the last young Bumblebuns to exist. It made the twins very sad when they learned this, and they made a pact to remain children as long as they could. So far, it seems to be working. However, despite staying young, Mielle continues to grow and develop each day in spirit and personality at the very least, the mystery of who she is as a person revealing itself day by day to the delight (and sometimes annoyance, in all honesty) of all who love her.

Mielle's personality can seem a bit contradictory. On the one hand, she's what you could call a "girly girl"; she loves pink and purple, sugary sweets, glitter, dressing up, tea parties, and all of that kind of thing. However, she is also very high-energy, loves exploring and climbing, and likes to engage in rough-and-tumble play with other young Bumblebuns and Mothkittens. It's not unusual for her to come home covered in scrapes and bruises and to have to wear bandages for a while. (Her favorite kinds of bandages are the ones with unicorns and rainbows on them, and if she can only get plain bandages, she will will usually decorate them herself.) She likes to do all of these things at different times, often all in one day! Puca will gladly join her for the quieter and calmer games, but he's usually too scared to do anything she might consider "exciting." It means a lot to her to have her brother with her, though, so she tries to encourage him and help him out of his shell, often without success. She gets embarrassed by his cowardice, but will gladly fight anyone who dares to mock him, and this has been the cause of some of her more serious injuries.

Mielle is also a little big for her britches sometimes, so to speak. She's only a little child, but will often act like she thinks she's a tween or teen already. This behavior includes trying to distance herself from her mother somewhat to appear more independent. She tends to complain when she gets too much attention from her mother in public, such as for grooming. This is a normal thing for a Bumblebun mother to do for a young one Mielle's age, but she finds it embarrassing. She also whines a lot when she can't get her way and might try to think of ways to get around it when her mother tells her "no."

Main Relationships *

Juniper [ Mother ] Mielle loves her mother and appreciates what she does for Mielle and her brother, but she also feels embarrassed by her sometimes. Mielle doesn't like to get too much attention from Juniper in front of others, such as for grooming, because she feels it makes her look like a baby. In truth, Mielle is barely out of babyhood and is still just a small child, but of course she doesn't see it that way. She does value any time she can spend with her mother that doesn't make her feel too small, and Juniper treasures those moments, too. One can only hope that when Mielle grows up, she will learn to understand just how important and precious her relationship with her mother really is.

Puca [ Brother ] Mielle is embarrassed quite a bit by her brother Puca, too, because he is such a scaredy bun and always clings to Juni. This is less to do with her worrying about how his behavior reflects on her than it is about how she empathizes with him; she feels the embarrassment she imagines he must be feeling when he chickens out and hides. She is never jealous of their mother's doting on him and rather wants to protect him and help him venture out on his own more. Unfortunately, this is an uphill battle that often leads to Mielle having to fight those who pick on Puca. She usually comes out on top, though, and wears her scrapes proudly. To her they say to the bullies, "That'll teach you to mess with my brother!" Between Mielle and Puca is a overall harmonious sibling relationship, where the two enjoy playing and spending time together without outside influences to complicate things. Then they can often forget there is any difference between them.

Asta [ "Aunt" ] Asta is Mielle's mother's best friend and a Mothcat. She raised Juniper from an egg and views her almost as a daughter as well as a friend, so by extension, Puca and Mielle are kind of like grandchildren to her, although she tells them to think of her as an aunt. She loves to give them gifts and help take care of them, and she even gave them noble titles. Mielle really likes Asta, maybe not as much as Puca does, but she does admire her elegance and bearing and enjoys the gifts she often brings.

Cacao [ Uncle ] Cacao is Juniper's older brother who took care of Juni's egg for a time, before giving it to Asta, so he is Mielle's real uncle. Cacao is gentle and wise, and was made a knight by Asta a while back. Like Puca, Mielle admires Cacao for being a knight and rather suspects he must have done more heroic deeds than he admits to, though she's not as invested in it as Puca is. Cacao could be thought of as a bit if a stand-in father figure for her, too, as she learns what gentlemanly and respectable male Bumblebuns are like through him. (Cacao belongs to ceiine on DA)
