Profile

Paitient • Solemn • Insightful

Leader of The Fallen and keeper of light and lore, Luci stays mostly by himself and out of reach of any prying eyes or ears. He attends to an extensive library which he yearns to one day fill with a copy of every single story told--whether they be historical accounts or fairytales, true or false. These days, he has very little interest in anything else, other than smiting the occasional demon who dares to try to invade his lair. Tactical responsibility and management is now handled by Astaroth, while Luci watches and gives an occasional nod of approval. Though he hasn't exactly lost sight of their goal--and their purpose--he remains devastated over an "accident" long ago which left him flightless and mostly retired him from combat altogether.

He once had many sets of beautiful, sun-filled wings, but they were burned from him. The remnants of one is all he has left, though he is too proud and bitter to ever admit what actually happened to him. He spends his days now in the shadows, and any reminder of the event will send him into a silent, solemn melancholy that can last for eons. It's usually Bella who can manage to pull him from these depressive episodes.

As the oldest of The Renegade's children, he feels responsible for the well-being of his siblings. Though he keeps mostly to himself (and is prone to keeping secrets), he is highly respected by the others, and is still considered the head of the group. He has the final say in all matters, and it is to him that they report demon and demon god sightings and slayings.

Though he rarely fights anymore, Luci used to be an old and terrible killer, utilizing his unearthly flames and puppet strings to secure victory. Only under extreme circumstances will he ever leave the Library anymore, as he prefers to sulk about his books and leave the hunting to the others.

Design Notes

  • She has one wing on her right side which should appear severely damaged, almost as if it was burned. Most of the bone should be exposed and charred, with sparse feathers hanging here and there.
  • The ends of her hair and tailcoats are always on fire. In addition, the flame coming from the top of her hat is always active, and may flare up even brighter/taller or dimmer/shorter depending on her mood.
  • The patterns on her coat do not need to be replicated exactly.
  • Her eyelids and lips are black with gold or bronze highlights. She has, in addition, black rings under her eyes, which can be interpreted as smudged eyeliner or as preorbital dark circles.

Misc. Notes

  • She usually appears deadpan, or with a sad or tired expression. She rarely talks with his mouth--the teeth-like ribbon across her jacket lapels usually "talks" and emotes feelings for her, and can open and close as if it was sentient.
  • Intersex and genderfluid. Uses they/she/he pronouns interchangably.
  • She uses magic puppet strings secured to her fingers as her main weapon, which can be manifested or disappeared into thin air when and where she wills.
  • Roughly 5'8" (172.7 cm) tall.

Favored moves: Hex, Curse, Will-O-Wisp, Sunny Day, Shadow Ball, Overheat, Thief, Fire Spin, Dark Pulse, Mystical Fire, Trick, Confuse Ray, Pain Split, Trick Room.

Trivia

  • She has the power to sew together dimensional Rifts using her strings. Such mending can also be applied to demon-inflicted wounds, cleansing them of their corruption and allowing them to heal without a trace.
  • She has a photographic memory and a talent for memorizing and being able to recite poems, papers, books, and pretty much any sort of written document.
  • She knows a multitude of languages and is always studying to learn more, so that she may decipher every single text she's collected.
  • Her Library is outfitted throughout with ladders and strings, which she uses to reach high shelves and navigate. She can hang from the strings, or use them like pulleys or swings to move herself or other materials.
  • Cries boiling hot tears that harden into candle wax if they fall off of her face onto another surface.
  • INFP personality type.
  • Her halo, when visible, is a burning circle of fire and golden light that constantly drips candle wax.

Origin

When The Renegade was defeated and banished to a limbo-like state of non-existence, they sensed a terrible threat which had come into being as a result of their endless fight with The Architect. Unable to communicate the danger, they used the last of their strength to make the seven angels and cast them into the new universe, entities of great Power who were meant to serve as protectors of the worlds and the humans that came to inhabit them.

Luci Fleur was the first angel created. He was light, and knowledge, and could use his radiant energy both to burn up demons and spread wisdom wherever he went. It is said that with all his sun-filled wings, he was brighter than any star, and that his presence alone could extinguish any kind of darkness or uncertainty. As the entity of Pride, he was meant to lead the other angels against their demon enemies, or "light the way" so to speak. And he was a frightful killer, able to extend his reach over vast distances of space and time using his magical puppet strings and fire.

For many, many years, he and Astaroth fought tirelessly against the demons, using the combined might of their powers to strike fear into their nemeses, and rally against the threat as was intended of them by their creator. And as he began observing the humans, Luci became increasingly fascinated by them as he traveled across worlds. Eventually he enlisted the help of Time and Space to set up a Library outside the bounds of regular Existence, dedicated the collecting of stories, archives, and anything else dreamed up by the mortals. It serves also as the base of operation for the angels, where they can go about their business undisturbed.

Past

But long ago, Luci had some sort of "accident" that seared his wings from him and left him a shell of his former self, traumatized, jaded, and living forever after with the physical and psychological pain caused by his injuries. As a result, he retired from combat and stepped down from his position as the head of The Fallen, living instead in his Library and continuing to expand his collection of human stories. He refuses to ever talk about what really happened to him, and only Astaroth knows for sure, and is heavily protective of him and of his privacy about the matter. On more than one occasion, Silver has offered to reverse Time on his wounds, but Luci has always refused, convinced that they provides the "proof" of his suffering, and that his mental state has made him unfit for service anyway.

Ceremonially, he is still the "leader," but has passed off the position in practice to Astaroth, who now oversees and manages the angels. Though he appreciates that she defers all final decision making matters to him for his approval, out of respect for him, he wishes deep down that she would fully accept the title as her own, as he feels she more than deserves it. He also grapples with the guilt of removing himself from combat, weakening the angels' combat strength even further, but still cannot bring himself to step outside his Library. It is only in the most dire of instances that he would ever leave, such as to save one of his siblings if all other options were extinguished.

Present

Luci spends his days now at the Library, pouring over his books and teaching himself about the humans and their various cultures, languages, histories, and fictions. He very much appreciates the visits from his siblings and from Silver, who remains a close friend of his and who is always welcome at the base. He especially loves hearing about Silver's and Bella's first-hand experiences with human beings, and eagerly adds any books or other materials they bring him to his collection.

Even in his isolation, Luci is still considered to be astoundingly perceptive and wise, and many defer to him for his advice or insight on a plethora of things. He will help guide lost souls who show up at his Library inaddition to tending to his collections. In recent times he's also more seriously considered attempting to reach out to and build alliances with human beings--particuarly the God Hunters--to fight the demons, but has had trouble trying to convince Astaroth it would be worth the effort.

Astaroth

As the two oldest of the siblings, Astaroth and Luci are the closest. They usually mutually understand one another's feelings and thoughts without needing to necessarily speak aloud, and have a deep respect for one another even if they don't always agree on tactics or moral principles. Astaroth has taken responsibility for leading The Fallen in his place, and is always sure to make occasional trips to the Library to spend personal time together with him and catch up.

Bella Gore

Bella is Luci's shining light. He is usually the one who can pull him from his self-destructive episodes, and provides a level of empathy and support that Luci very much appreciates. Luci very much encourages Bella's free-spiritedness as a result, as he believes his brother is able to connect with humanity in a way that the other Fallen won't ever care for.

Sterling Silver

Silver is an old friend and welcome at any time to Luci's Library. He has a level of tolerance for the god's antics that might frustrate the other Fallen, but Luci is aware that at his core, Silver is a conflicted and caring individual, who was born with an enormous burden to bear all on his own. He also condones Silver's "ethnographic" exploits among mortals, especially given that he's been promised some prose or historical accounts every now and then to add to his collection.
