Embodiment of "I think I will cause problems on purpose."

The god of Time that grew disenchanted with his job and decided to take on a second life, disgusing himself and posing as a mortal. He drifts from world to world, taking up new personas, meddling with things, and shirking his responsibilities. One of his more notable roles involved him acting as a liaison between the dragon and fairy kingdoms of an old, forgotten world, where the factions had warred against each other. After that planet fell into disarray he continued to travel around the universe with Petit Four, his sort of sidekick troublemaker. He also happens to be Astaroth's sort-of-ex, whom she kind-of broke up with because she couldn't stand his lack of obligation and fickle nature. It's complicated.

Silver is extravagant, arrogant, and indulgent, and is always on the lookout for new experiences as he jumps between worlds. To this day, he remains obsessed with Astaroth, and will show up at Luci's Library on occasion to try to impress and court her. Other than that, he makes his own adventures, causing drama when and where it suits him, all while distancing himself from his divine duties as much as possible. Much of his cavorting is just for show, but he greatly enjoys acting the part, and any kind of attention it will bring him.

In reality, he feels unfairly burdened by the position he was born into, and fears deep inside that he will not be able to adequately maintain the order of Time as he was meant to. As a result, he tries to distract himself from it as much as he can, perpetuating a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure. His posturing and hot-headed confidence is bolstered to try to compensate for such anxieties, but he is, at his core, an individual who involves himself in the business of mortals not only to amuse himself, but because he ultimately cares. Then again, he just finds great amusement in meddling with things.

To maintain and moderate temporal flow while he gallivants about, and to hide his true strength, he created magical time machine that beats somewhere at the heart of all the universes. It works well enough, but needs constant fine-tuning in order to function properly, a task that he's mostly passed off onto Iba. He still holds a theoretical loyalty to The Architect, but in practice, acts mostly on his own desires.

Design Notes (Disguise)

  • His sclera (the "whites" of the eyes) are lavender, and his irises are gold with a red ring around the outer rim. His pupils are black with a red outline.
  • Wears purple lipstick and eyeshadow.
  • Has jagged red markings that go down both cheeks from the center of his eyes.
  • He has sharp teeth, and a set of large fangs on the upper jaw where the canines are. They can be included or excluded if his mouth is closed, but should be taken into account if his mouth is open.
  • His eyebrows have two pointed tips.
  • He has a total of four earrings on his right ear: three golden bands (two on the top, one on the bottom), and a pin-like industrial piercing made of iron.
  • The patterns on his coat and vest do not need to be replicated exactly.
  • The time displayed on the clocks all over his outfit (includes those set around the base of his hat, and his pocketwatch) can be set to anything.

Design Notes (True Form)

  • All the clocks around his outfit (includes the clock at the top of his hat, his tailcoats, belt, and the two sets of bands around his left arm) can have the time set to be anything.
  • His hair is long, black, highlighted with blue-ish galaxies and dotted with stars. It is always flowing around him as if being blown by the wind. The position of objects within it constantly shifts as time passes, and the stars are always twinkling.

  • His eyebrows have two pointed tips.
  • His right glove is dark blue and his left glove is black.
  • The circle of metal blades behind him is optional and does not need to be included.

Misc. Notes

  • While in his mortal disguise, he obsessively checks the time on the golden pocketwatch at his waist. It serves as another talisman to mask his true power.
  • The red lines on his face in his disguise form can be interpreted as tattoos or scars, it doesn't matter.
  • Roughly 6'6" (198.1 cm) tall in his disguise form. Roughly 6'9" (205.7 cm) tall in his true form.
  • "Sterling Silver" is just his name, not a first + last name as a human person might have (though he certainly may use it that way in his disguises). He prefers "Silver" for short over "Sterling," but will answer to both.

Favored moves: Flash Cannon, Dragon Pulse, Swagger, Iron Tail, Safeguard, Stomping Tantrum, Aura Sphere, Thunder, Metal Burst, Iron Defense, Power Gem, Draco Meteor, Roar of Time.

Origin

There is a story, older than Time, and then lost to it, about two entities that fought over how to make Existence. One would eventually win out over the other, and banished their foe beyond all recognition, and so after made the universe in their guise... The Architect, as they were called, created two twins to keep their vision, before disappearing themselves to a state of non-being.

Sterling Silver was one of the siblings. As Time, he is absolutely necessary to moderate the flow of order, and the stability of the entire universe along with his sister, Rose Gold--Space. They hold reality, the material, and the abstract, together, and make Existence possible for all manner of mortal beings and their imaginations. Both possess untold power, and both are capable of greatly altering or even erasing worlds according to their will. But without any direction from their maker, they knew not exactly how to act, or what to do. And it was all too soon after their creation that they realized that everything around them, as it was, had been horribly threatened by demon hordes, bent on exterminating everything that Existed at all.

Thus the twins would be locked forever in a battle against Undoing. And at the edge of the Beginning, Silver would meet Astaroth, the angel of Wrath, and though it was apparent that they were children of opposing powers, they were drawn to one another, suspicious, but fascinated, and united together to face the demon foes.

Past

Countless worlds were destroyed in the clashes against the demons. And from the ashes, countless worlds were born. There seemed no end in sight, no final future, for the war, and terrible as it was, Silver always seemed to find joy in observing the human species, how they persevered, how they survived. Legends were made, passed down, re-interpreted, about a great dragon god whose heartbeat measured time... details inevitably lost. The Renegade and Architect all but faded from most tales, and most often, with them, all memory of the Old Powers.

This he did not mind. Silver was never so concerned with his status as a god, but rather shied away from the enormous responsibility placed on him, ever since his birth, of keeping the universe in tact. It was an anxiety that would plague him to exhaustion, and he would grow disillusioned with his job and troubles it caused him. To escape the burden, he built a great machine which lays hidden at the heart of the universe, which could regulate the flow of time in his place as he diverted his attention elsewhere, and sought to masquerade in a second life, pretending to be mortal.

This greatly angered Astaroth, who thought him childish and careless for abandoning his duties for antics. Silver's masquerading and investment in particular human worlds would often put them at odds with each other, disputing how and where the War should be fought, and which worlds should be saved or condemned. Though they were too close to ever really cut ties altogether, their relationship status would fluctuate over the years, on and off, though they'd both take it upon themselves to, no matter their differences, check in with one another. Silver would, inevitably, have to see to his duties in-person every once in awhile, and toy with the thought of returning full-time to his post, but inevitably fail to ever see it through. The attention, immersion, and chance to cultivate himself as the person he wished to be were too alluring an opportunity for him to pass up.

So he traveled from world to world, making up stories of his past and about who he was, and dreaming into reality different lives for himself. The ability to reinvent himself to his own will invigorated him, giving new meaning and purpose to his life, and allowing him to break away from the constraints he felt confined to since the day he was born. He was a clockmaker, an actor, a con man, an entrepreneur. Eventually, he came to FLUX: Murcurial, where an age-old rivalry between the dragon and Fae kingdoms kept the world in a constant stage of tension, with conflicts breaking out regularly. Here, he made himself a liaison, trying to negotiate a lasting peace between the two while the countries sat on the brink of another world war. Petit Four, a Fae agent, was assigned to be his counterpart in the negotiations, and though the two of them would get off to a rocky start, they would eventually build a tight friendship together that lasted even after the world was destroyed. Petit accompanies Silver wherever he goes now, and they tend to make mischief wherever they end up.

Present

To this day, Silver struggles with trying to strike a balance between what he is, and who he wants to be. He is immensely bothered by the idea that his god status overshadows his own identity as a person, and thus continues to forsake his duties and takes his disguise form more often than not. It is only after she catches him in a very vulnerable emotional rut that he and Astaroth finally begin to have a serious discussion about their differing perspectives, and attempt to reconcile and understand the other's position on the ordeal. In the end, Silver acknowledges that he must step up and accept the responsibility of stabilizing and maintaining the flow of Time in the universe, with some freedom slotted for his masquerading. Astaroth, in the meanwhile, admits that she was not providing him the support he needed as her partner, and had been ignoring his pain in the effort to convince herself he was trying to be difficult and to get attention as a vanity project. Their relationship became stronger as a result.

At Luci's suggestion, Silver has found a more practical use for the time he spends incognito--while disguised, he often situates himself as a fixer, and uses the position to gather intel on demon activity and organizes demon fighters, putting groups in touch with one another both within and across mortal worlds. He rather enjoys the socializing, but still finds ways to cause trouble, of course, for some things never really change.

Astaroth

Silver is completely obsessed with Astaroth. They met a long, long time ago, when the universe had barely been formed, and have been in on-and-off relationships ever since. His gallivanting around and pretending to be mortal annoys Astaroth to no end, as she'd prefer he take his duties seriously, but she will always love him, and they have remained best friends no matter their disagreements.

Luci Fleur

Luci has known Silver for almost as long as Astaroth has, and is greatly interested in his experiences among humans and listening to what sort of pieces of history or prose he's seen or heard first-hand. Silver also helped substantially to create Luci's Library, situating it in a time-less state of existence and helping to calibrate and balance its magical energies.

Petit Four

During one of Silver's incognito expeditions, where he served as a liaison between the dragon and fairy kingdoms of a lost world, Peti was assigned to him as the Fae representative for negotiations. Initially bitter rivals who couldn't stand one another, they would eventually develop a close, lasting friendship. Peti is one of the only mortals who knows about Silver's true identity as a god, but isn't at all phased by the discovery.

Fiore Blodwen

Silver convinced Fiore to join him and Peti after he noticed her talents going to waste in a job she despised. Re-igniting her dream of drawing up a peace treaty between the divided nations of Mercurial, she allied with him first as a contact in the Fae kingdom, and then as a friend. Even after the world fell into ruin, she chose to remain with him and Peti as they travel from world to world.

Rose Gold

Rose has cut ties with Silver completely, and will no longer talk to or even acknowledge him. She remains very disappointed in him for abandoning his post and the wishes of their creator, only to play "make believe" among the mortals. While he misses his sister dearly, she will not associate with him for as long as he remains so irresponsible.
