Personality

An unenthusiastic, yet kind person. "Lackadaisical" is what his parents often refer to his character. Even with his somewhat lazy portrayal, Abacus is always ready to help people in need, commonly putting his family and friend's needs over his own, a lot of it involves him and the difficulty of refusing a favor from someone he is comfortable with. However, this does give him the advantage of his getting those favors repaid. He will not hesitate to turn down his any opportunity of a relationship, as he's actively trying to keep his bachelor lifestyle and possibly any long distance relationships.

Yet even with such constant procrastination, he does his work with little to no problems. Some of his clients or peers even find him a legend in the works of photography. And when he's modeling for someone else, he seems to know how to catch people's attention behind the lens. There are many that consider his work habits to be pain and loathe him for those reasons, but there are as many people that consider him to be inspiring. That is, from people who are not part of his fanbase.

The story

Abacus is the first child of the Ransford family, out of the five other siblings. Perhaps it was the way his parents were raised, where both Chanse and Elliot were also the eldest child, Abacus feels obligated to help take care of four of his little brothers and sisters. Because he feels as if his dads and siblings hold more priority of his love life, he often gets into wasteful and hopeless relationship with boys and girls all throughout middle school and high school - no matter how popular he may be in the campus. Since then, he's strayed away from any potential romance when he's afraid of breaking his lover's hearts.

In academic terms, Abacus was a good student, regardless of his popularity. Chanse was a teacher that has helped his son with his studying habits and other academic guidance. While Elliot, who seemed to know (almost) everything from the back of his hand - he somehow adopted Elliot's intellectual mindset. He's was accepted to a competitive university and took this opportunity to live independently in the dorm and eventual apartment.
Young Ransford felt particularly bad when his parents used their massive (mostly Elliot's) income to pay off both his schooling. Therefore he demanded that they'd stop paying for him and allow him to work the things he needed on a regular basis. Most of the income he took was just small-time studios looking for models, being a waiter his father's restaurant(s), and a baker/cashier in one of his father's bakery.
During university, Abacus fell in love with photography and the creativity of making pictures. The striving dedication he had led him all the way to graduation in Photography when he once started college to become a teacher.

With the help of a childhood friend, who thinks of him as a cousin, he was lucky to snag a few well-paid gigs who needed professionals. Although he was new after he graduated college, his work didn't take so long before his photography work was already hitting magazine covers other main-time media.

Trivia

• Drinks a lot, but he has a high alcohol tolerance.
  > Jumps about 5-10 bars in a single night every week.
  > Every time he's always seen at least one drunkard causing a ruckus, and often getting into fights with him for the sake of courtesy and defending the bars that he prowls around.
  > When the alcohol hits him, he always calls a friend or family to drive him home. 
  > The moment he wakes up and hungover, he immediately gulps down a whole jar of pickle juice and munches away all the pickles - with the fear of vomiting and a terrible headache. 
• The eldest child of Chanse and Elliot.
  > Elliot is the one that is strict towards him. Chanse, being the doting father who speaks nothing but love about him.
  > The only time Abacus will ever be scared of Chanse, is when he's driving him around and he road rage ensues. There's been a few moments in time where he's tried to keep his dad in his seat before he gets out and throw a few punches.
• Because of his father being a chef, Abacus obviously knows a few delicious meals.
  > Everyone's favorite dish to eat that's cooked by him is his rice noodles and seasoned chicken (pansit bihon).
• Junior, although older than him by six years, is his childhood friend. Because of how close their parents are to each other, they always consider themselves as a family, and calling each other "cousins."
  > Junior is the one that hooks Abacus up with the gigs in both photography and modeling careers. Because of it, Ransford has been quite successful in this line of work.
  > Junior often asks to babysit his children whenever him and his wife are busy. In favor, Junior treats him out to any higher-end, 4 or 5 Michellin-star restaurants.
  > Occasional drinking buddies.
• Has two Instagram pages: one for his line of work, the other for his food.
  > Oddly enough, his instagram that revolves around food is more popular than his photography and modeling. He doesn't complain about it though.
• It is a tradition, but Abacus knows how to play the acoustic guitar.
  > Chanse's father plays the guitar as a hobby, and so does Chanse himself after he taught him. Conveniently, Elliot also knows how to play the acoustic as well.
  > When he lived with his parents, both Chanse and Elliot has been teaching him how to play.
  > Abacus only plays the guitar when he's particularly sad or drunk. Probably both.
• Him being an regular drinker gives him at least a whole shelf solely for pickle jars in his fridges.
  > Please don't touch his pickle jars. 
• Doesn't like being in a relationship.
  > Constantly reminds people that having a lover is annoying and difficult to maintain.
  > Usually tries to sleep with his friends and one-night stands to satiate his sexual activity.

Relationships

Chanse  [ Papa ]

Chanse acts more like his mother than a father, despite his scruffy and manlier looks. And rather, the most doting father he could possibly have. Perhaps it was the past that affected him but Papa is always concerned for his health and safety and doesn't want to risk losing him. If there is no friend to go to for comfort, he immediately seeks his father by calling him or just driving to his house for a few hugs and reassuring words. It's odd for Abacus, fully grown and large male, to seek comfort and often looks forward to lay on his Papa's lap when he truly feels sad and alone.

Elliot  [ Father ]

Even though he is kind and quiet in general, it's a rare occasion where the other side of Elliot appears and becomes strict. He is afraid of his father because of that "genius" brain of his and no matter how much of an advantage he has over his father - Elliot still manages to gain the higher ground. There's no way Abacus could beat Elliot in a battle of wits. Regardless, Elliot is his father and he treats his son as his greatest treasure. Before Abacus could move out, he wanted to leave behind a few recipes for him to learn when Elliot wouldn't be there to feed him. And Elliot owns about a few restaurants in the city, let alone his bakery is spread about throughout the country - throughout his time in college, Elliot was the first to provide him a job in his restaurant.

Jr  [ "Cousin" ]

They're not related but he calls Junior his cousin because they were raised together, despite him being six years older. In many gatherings with their parents' friends, he felt the most comfortable being with. And nowadays, they always ask each other a never ending exchange of favors. First starting with Junior hooking up a few gigs for Abacus after he graduated college. After that he used this to ask Abacus to help babysit his children or drive him. After those, Abacus asks him to take him out to a highly reputed and expensive restaurant... with Junior paying the full bill of his never-ending void that he calls Abacus's stomach.

Lucia  [ "Cousin" / "Pretend Girlfriend"]

Lucia is the queen of the celebrity world, thus it isn't surprising to see her being a model for his line of work. Like Junior. Abacus sees Lucia like a family member than a friend. But more importantly, Abacus often seeks her help in several occasions. Whenever Abacus is being pursued by a desperate male or female that's seeking a relationship, he uses Lucia as an excuse that he's taken. Regardless, they're likely business partners who benefit each other in their work - making Abacus even more successful in his job.
