The Bax is an ever growing bakery and cafe in the heart of the downtown, a rather well known large hangout spot for people of all generations. It had been the go-to spot for afternoon social meetups and, refuge for diligent students and workers that need a kind place for solitude because their homes fail to upkeep the need. Thankfully, the owner of the Bax has always tried to cater both audiences.

And the owner himself is as well known as the cafe itself, a remarkable and humble man who is all too familiar around the kitchen. Especially his appearance among the cooking community and widespread food media, he's definitely made a name for himself regarding his looks and the foods he's cooked for others.

But Elliot isn't the kind of man who preferred to be in the limelight. He never found comfort being in the center of attention since the very beginning.

He was at peace inside the kitchen, with those he treats well...

... But also the husband and family that never realized he could love so much more than the world itself.

About

Personality

Elliot, once a bitter individual after the loss of his friend, has now softened up back like his past years...

Ransford is now engaged, happily with his job and his lifestyle with his eternal partner. Satisfied, Elliot remains humble and still acts as if he's shy and anxious with those he loves. The pastry chef is a still a man that cannot be fooled, still intellectually advanced and can read people's actions two or three steps ahead. Although any assertiveness and dominance are still held back - but he won't hesitate to unleash his wrath to those that anger him. Especially when he's capable of reading people's predictable actions - it will only become intimidating to those that try to go against his orders. Especially being a business owner, a master pâtissier, and an experienced executive chef - Ransford is the leader in the food world! But those that worked under him for a while won't ever try to take advantage of his skill. Even his humble, innocent facade he portrays is for the respect of his employees that work hard and treat him well. Any kitchen drama and tension is something Elliot cannot ignore - he will not hesitate to fire any worker. If firing someone is too harsh even for him, he'll just throw a few tricks and pranks at his troublemakers until they learned their lesson.

Outside of the kitchen he's rather a mellow individual and a man too busy with work to really have a hobby aside from going home to see the love of his life. And whenever he's gotten the free time in the kitchen, his head is filled with endless creations of sweets and giving them all to his friends and close employees.

Backstory

It was all about trying to use people for his own benefits... in his own subtle way. No hate, no destruction, and did whatever necessarily to get through life. He wasn't valuing enough of the people that he was getting close to...

Not until he's found the one. And it wasn't even the first time he saw him. It took him years to realized that he was going to be the one he wanted to be with forever.

Elliot doesn't necessarily like to talk about himself back from a few years back. But conveniently he's kept a small [journal] regarding it.

Trivia

  • He was an executive chef in Faith's restaurant for a long while once he became a titled chef. However, he left it after he wanted to manage his pastry business once his uncle retired.
  • Still keeps the Bakester and it's still the same as ever.
    > Remains a popular place for him and his friends to hold small parties or a place to chat with his social circle.
    > Elliot has no plans to making a second store under the name Bakester. Afraid of losing the charm it still has, he created another pastry chain known as "The Bax"
  • The Bax is a fast-growing dessert chain. Popular as a little cafe and hangout spot - for those with a taste in something trendy. Of course, his dessert creations remain as legendary as it was known for.
  • Still a chip-junkie hoarder.
    > Majority of his pantry is still filled with bags of chips of the same two types of chips: Lays Sour Cream and Onion, and Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream
  • Engaged Married to Chanse Ransford.
    > Chanse has been watching him since Emery's death, and Elliot eventually gives in to Chanse - they've dated for quite a while but broke apart when Elliot turned a bit too sour long ago.

    > Chanse wants to have a surrogate child with him... or five of them. The both of them have 3 surrogate children, and adopted two more.
    > Rarely drives his car because Chanse will likely not let him drive it unless he's with him.
  • Owns a house and an apartment. Both of them is a ridiculously huge. Especially his kitchen.
    > He still has the little bedroom that is part of the second floor of the Bakester. However, he gives it to Max and Emmie when they grew older.
    > Max and Emmie takes over the Bakester management most of the time, as Elliot is too busy with the Bax.
  • Perhaps it was because Chanse didn't want his hair being in the way while Elliot was cooking; but he wanted the chef to get a new haircut.
    > Suddenly has a fanbase solely for his looks. Now rarely leaves the kitchen due to any customer distracting him.
  • Alcohol is still his aphrodisiac and will not drink unless Chanse or his close friends are with him.
    > Still a freak after a sip of alcohol.
  • Became a Grandmaster at chess at the age of 32.
    > He could've played to aim for the Grandmaster title when he was much younger; but didn't pursue it until he finally beat his Uncle without any struggle.
    > Doesn't play it professionally anymore. He continues to play it as a hobby or to waste time - most of the time he'll be teaching kids how to play.
  • Has once been a bit nervous being a leading a whole kitchen by himself and rather rarely works with anyone in the kitchen unless it was Faith or his Uncle.
    > Overcame his fear after he participated in a few cooking competitive cooking shows. Especially participated in Chopped twice and won both times.
    > Him being featured in the cooking channel made his fanbase grow tenfold.

Relationships

Chanse  [ Husband ]

He thought he didn't need anyone for the rest of his life. He figured he'd marry someone that he didn't care so much just to have someone but he didn't realize how important it was. And when he saw Chanse (again), he didn't expect how great it was to fall in love with someone so.... perfect. Elliot could never ask for anyone more supportive and caring than Chanse. Whenever he needs a pick-me-up, Chanse is always first in line to give him just that. It's quite nice that the both of them are quite kind towards other, but whenever trouble ensues... Elliot is the first to turn sour and most of the time Chanse has to be the one to ease the potential tension between him and the other person.

And because of Chanse's doting parent attitude, he feels he has no choice but to be stricter to his children. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to learn or handle discipline very well if they were constantly being pampered by the both of them.

Abacus  [ Eldest Son ]

Elliot wishes that Abe was a bit more passionate the more he became older, but he didn't really complain about it when he's been a good child since birth. However, because Chanse spoils Abacus - he feels like he needs to play the strict parent around him in order for him to understand discipline, but it's rare for him to even get mad at him.
He pretends to be clueless whenever Abe gets a little clever now and then but Elliot for sure has been seeing through his plans. No matter how much of an advantage he has over him, Abe could almost never surpass him. It may sound selfish enough and he allows Abe to have the win, though his son isn't satisfied with such a win. He loves him as much as the rest of their children though. And he's more than willing to teach him how to cook or hand him the recipes that his son desires.

Gunner[ Second Son ]

Gunner grew to become an interesting young man. Gunner hides his identity as a part of Prodigal's Administration, but because of his friend's information, he knows about it. He trusts his friend that Gunner will remain safe from any dangerous situations that the Organization gets into and she's made sure that he's being watched from a distance. Regardless, Elliot also trusts Gunner's performances in his work. His kids think that Elliot's unrivaled wit runs in the family, but its mostly because Baxter has taught all of them well, Gunner included.
Elliot was an exceptional student in highschool and in college and there has been a bright future waiting for him. However, Baxter preferred follow culinary arts as his future instead of becoming an engineer or architect. When Gunner discovered this, he decided to turn his way into someone Baxter never reached and became an architect for both the Demos Corp and the Prodigal.

Chase  [ Daughter ]

Chase is Chanse and Elliot's third child, and became a young and stoic young lady, and popular among the girls in her year. However, she's quite different than the rest but it doesn't mean that their love for Chase was any different than her two older brothers. She has no interest in teaching, or cooking. And surprisingly, she's quite bad at math (or pretends to be bad at it); Elliot knows that she's understands the fundamentals of Calculus, considering he grades in highschool, but she denies it.

But Elliot is happy that she found her passion... although he doesn't know anything about it because she often hides it away from Elliot. But he does love and support her artistic talents! ...Despite it being questionable.

He thought she had been long dead. Her death was the cause of his breaking point. It's taken him so long to get over her death, and even accepting it still kept him down every once in a while. He doesn't know how she's alive or what had been going on in her life, but when she appeared in his cafe one day... he felt closure. A nice exchange of words, despite it being short due to her situation - he was happy to see her again, even if he didn't have those feelings of love for her anymore.

Seeing her in person only happens once in a blue moon. But the communication between the two is still there. He may not regularly keep in touch, but her agents always sends over a gift or two.

Emmie  [ Adopted Daughter ]

Emmie and Max's parents has been close to Elliot since they were in highschool, but after their mother's poor health and her death took a turn for the worst and soon after her father disappeared for unknown reasons. But this whole time both Chanse and Elliot had been watching them, and despite considering having a third surrogate child, they thought it would be find to take both kids as their own children.
For Elliot, he treats Emmie the same exact way as her other siblings and he loves her. Though sometimes he can't seem to keep up with her energy and being with her almost always tires poor Elliot out. But this whole time, Elliot teaches her how to bake and he has plans of handing over his oldest cafe/bakery to both Emmie and Max.

Max  [ Adopted Son ]

As mentioned with Emmie, their circumstances was rather hard and both Elliot and Chanse were willing to adopt the two as their own children. Surprisingly enough, they get along very well as siblings and he sees Max as a brilliant and bright child and sometimes... sees himself in Max. Max is shy with his customers but he is still an intelligent young man who loves baking! So, he decides that it'll be fine to hand over the ownership of his old cafe/bakery (the Bakester) to these two children.
