Currently there exist four phoenix' on Earth, originating with the Ziz (Dante). The Ziz is the only three of the mammoth creatures created for the apocalypse that can divide, and create others of his kind. The division comes at a price, creating a new phoenix, but taking pieces of the original fire bird with it. The occurrence is rare, with it only having happened twice in his long lifetime. First, it brought into existence a phoenix created from the darkest parts of humanity. Then, one of corruptible innocence. The fourth phoenix, an outlier, was born from demon magic. The three were born not knowing what they were, as it takes death to awaken the fire birds abilities.

Kris, the second oldest of the phoenix, is a bit of a dick. Lacking an ability to feel empathy properly, mixed with a deep seeded desire to cause violence, he's a bad friend and a worse enemy. He claims these tendencies of his are born into all of their kind, neglecting the fact that Teddy and Julian alike only showed the same desire after having been trained by him to do so. Dante, the original, has no such inclination.

Kris has spent the majority of his present-day life being a pain in the ass to anyone who looks at him the wrong way. He likes to plan big, and make as many lives miserable as he can. In the past, this had included his own family. Thankfully, as each death has the ability to change small things about the phoenix effected through rebirth, Kris has died enough times to at least have some exceptions to who he tortures. He's also died enough times to be nearing his limit, as the fire birds body can only be brought back so often before it burns out. Near true death, he's settled down a bit more into his relationship with Dante and Julian, trying to make the best of the lives that remain, and not waste them on pointless, dangerous endeavors.

He's still a terrible person, though.
