He and Mulligan were made in the same lab. They're not genetically related, Mulligan just took on the responsibility of raising Nix after the shut down.
Had been raised by Mulligan alone for several years before Monica joined the fam. Then they started the farm & Michelle joined soon after.
He goes by Phoenix in memory of a friend that didnt survive back at the lab they were made in. Grant is because... well I dont know yet honestly. I think he just likes the way it sounds. Although he probably got it from a book/show he likes.
