Amblygonite

CHARACTER INFO

Amblygonite (nicknamed Ambly by Sodalite) is a big gem with a big heart. She can be a bit air-headed and oblivious, and always feels like she has something to prove, so she frequently jumps head-first into situations without taking more time to think (especially when those situations involve a physical altercation). When it concerns others, however, Ambly has a high level of empathy and can easily tell when someone is hurting emotionally or otherwise seems off. She cares a great deal about those around her, even if those others don't necessarily reciprocate her feelings. She's great at talking others down from states of emotional distress, and is a great someone to have around if you need some cheering up.

GEM CLASS INFO

Amblygonites are no longer made on Homeworld. At some point down the line, Homeworld began experimenting with other types of minerals outside of quartzes to be soldiers, trying to find the best and most efficient way to utilize their resources. Amblygonites were produced in a limited run, and there's nothing necessarily wrong with the ones still in service. Their gems, however, are more brittle than a quartz soldier's, and therefore were found not to be suited for the battlefield where they were easily chipped, cracked, or shattered. Remaining Amblygonites now reside on Homeworld and serve mostly as stationary guards. They live and serve amongst other quartzes, due to there being no unique place on Homeworld suited for them.

HISTORY

Amblygonite is around 3,000 years old, and was created at around the same time that era 2 peridots began being produced: when Homeworld started looking for more efficient ways to use their resources. She never saw the battlefield, unlike some Amblygonites, and instead served under Yellow Diamond as a guard gem for the first ~2,600 years of her life. An event involving a rogue Sodalite caused both her and Amblygonite to fall into the tunnels below the surface of the planet, where they remain now.

RELATIONSHIPS

Other gems: When Amblygonite lived on the surface amongst quartzes, she got along alright with them. Of course, she always felt a bit out of place not being a quartz herself, but her peers didn't seem to care or worry about it.

Sodalite: Sodalite is the first gem Amblygonite has had a relationship with outside of being a friendly acquaintance, while Sodalite left quite a few friends behind on the surface. Their relationship is rocky at first, with Amblygonite determined to eventually get back to the surface with Sodalite and turn her in, and Sodalite struggling to adapt to a life underground away from everything she's known. The two eventually find solace in each other's company, and now frequently travel the tunnels fused together as Shattuckite. She mostly keeps to herself, and some off-colors also living in the tunnels think she's some sort of monster, having only seen her lurking in the shadows.
