INFO

character
  • a self-centered alchemist struggling to keep himself out of trouble.
  • paradise was once an esteemed chemist working with a variety of high-profile organizations, a reputation that was swiftly taken from him when he was brought in to perennial horizons as a subject. he was officially pronounced dead, not that there was much of a life to leave outside of his work.
  • they were kept there for several years, mostly subject to experiments on their transmutation abilities. their stay was not exactly a comfortable one.
  • he was recently released without warning, given nothing but a fake identity and some money to start a new life with. he does not trust this at all, but wasn’t going to pass up a chance to finally get out.
  • he is currently jumping around from place to place with no clear destination. he wants to remain untraceable, and his first instinct is to run if something goes wrong, so he rarely stays in one spot for more than a couple weeks.
  • they were never the nicest person to be around, and their time trapped in a lab didn’t make them any friendlier. their paranoia typically leads to them acting hostile to others regardless of intent, and they don’t have much of a filter left, even around people they do know. they dislike silence in conversation and usually keep talking once they’ve started in order to fill it.
  • he has a lot of energy and isn’t good at staying still or quiet. most commonly, he paces and talks through his thoughts out loud. beyond that, he frequently latches on to new things to experiment with — anything to keep himself busy.
  • he still views himself as a respectable scientific figure and expects others to do the same. he hasn’t made any attempts to pick back up his old job, though.
  • despite his lack of trust in anyone but himself, he’s surprisingly easy to persuade if you know what to say. he doesn’t have much of a self-preservation instinct left and is drawn to people who will give him the appreciation he thinks he deserves.
  • he desperately wants to leave perennial horizons behind but is deeply suspicious of the reasons for his release, leading to him looking for answers in places he probably shouldn’t.
  • his abilities allow him to alter things at an atomic level at will, primarily changing states of matter or sometimes changing elements altogether. he started calling himself an alchemist as a joke, but just defaults to it now.
design
  • they almost exclusively dress in formal wear.
  • he wears square glasses.
  • his wings are connected to his arms and sides.
  • their markings can be simplified. their scars can be simplified as well, but the larger ones should stay in the correct locations.
  • he has a gem between his eyes and a leaf-shaped gem on his chest that are the main source of his abilities. the leaf has a couple scratches on it.

LATER

character
  • paradise eventually runs into sulla and haywire in an accidentally-tried-to-break-into-their-house-to-escape-the-rain incident. needless to say it wasn’t the greatest first impression.
  • he recognizes sulla & haywire’s tech as being from perennial horizons, inadvertently sparking their interest at the same time that he decides that his number one priority is to get out of there. sulla tries to question his connection to the company, but he runs away from the two.
  • imagine the most cartoonish series of chance encounters until they are finally in the same room as him for long enough to have a conversation.
  • it takes some convincing, but he gets to a point where he won’t immediately run at the sight of them, at least. he’s still not interested in interacting with them just in case, but feels a little guilty ignoring them upon hearing how sulla had a similar experience as him. disappears for a week before randomly showing up on sulla & haywaire’s doorstep with as much info as he could find to get sulla back in contact with macchiato.
  • gradually starts visiting more with decreasingly convincing excuses as to why and actually becomes friends with the two because of it after several months. go paradise!
  • he still claims that he is just stopping by to this day and exclusively sleeps on the couch as proof of that. he lives there. he does disappear for days or weeks on end occasionally with little to no explanation, though.
  • he transformed the garage into a makeshift lab for his alchemy. epsilon showed up in there one day, and paradise is convinced he must have made vaer unknowingly. he loves that thing and spoils vaer so much. he does not notice that vae knock over every single thing in the house and even if he did he’d think it’s cute.
  • very dismissive of his bad habits around sulla and haywire, but having friends has been good for him. he hasn’t actually opened up much about his life before he met them, but he’d rather not focus on it anyway.
  • his tendency to talk nonstop has only become more prominent now that he has real people to talk to. as a result, his conversations are pretty one-sided, but he’s good at paying attention to what is said to him as long as it’s one of the few people he cares about that’s saying it.
  • he occasionally changes the state of random items around the house for fun and tries to put his powers to good use to show his appreciation.
