Kristen was born and raised in Lumiose City with her parents and older brother, Martin. Both of their parents were archaeologists, which fuelled Kristen's love for learning history. She spent most of her free time at the library reading books and learning what she can about the past. She started out as a slow student, with English and History being the only subjects she was good at. Martin offered to help her and her grades started to improve. The two became close, they spent time together studying and playing. Their favourite pastime activity was reenacting historic events, in which she wrote scripts for. Kristen eventually became top of her class. But her personality changed after a year, much to her brother's dismay. She stopped going to him for help and began to slack off. She quickly became an unpopular kid at school, due to her excessive confidence and stubbornness. Her results dropped and her parents decided to send her to after-school tuition.

  •   Kristen hated her parents' 'if he could do it, why can't she?' mentality. She started blaming Martin. After all, he was the reason why their parents had impossibly high expectations for her. She hated the thought of not being as talented as him. There were arguments, and the siblings stopped talking to each other. She struggled with her studies and after a while, she reluctantly apologised to Martin. She shared her worries and the two eventually reconciled. Martin reassured her that she will see her true potential soon.

  •   Martin recommended starting out by helping the school's Drama Club write scripts for their plays, as she loved scriptwriting when they were younger. Eventually, he suggested she enter writing competitions. To her surprise, her stories won her first place for more than one competition. Plus, she began to excel in her studies. She couldn't thank Martin enough. She tried to repay him. She stood up for him when their parents disapproved of him pursuing a degree in Engineering rather than History. She defended him when the school bully tried to target him.

  •   Kristen managed to get into a good university with a major in history. After four exhausting years, she graduated and began work as a journalist. She left after a few years to work as a freelance writer, who focused on writing science fiction novels. She would shut herself in her room typing away. She only stopped to eat and drink and Martin worried that she was not getting enough sleep. She started off with a series on time travelers and later wrote a novel set in a Dystopian future. She went on to create other series. Her best seller was a trilogy featuring fairy tale characters, but with a cyberpunk twist. Her books did well and her family moved to a more luxurious house. But even with all the fame and money, Kristen grew bored. She spent her money travelling around the world with her family.

  •   They came back one day and Kristen found an odd letter in the mailbox. It looked old, which caught her attention and she immediately began to read. An island lost to time, that sealed the deal for her. She convinced Martin to come along with her and, after some packing and goodbyes, they left for the Isle of Steam.
