Personality

Kyou is a fun-loving, but immature person. He prefers to live in the moment, making reckless decisions and hanging around lively, noisy, potentially dangerous areas. He isn't interested in being by himself or sitting still for too long without doing anything interesting. He loves to party and will take any opportunity given to him to be loud and energetic, often teasing or ignoring anyone annoyed by this. He has a crude, mostly sexual, sense of humor and openly flirts with other people in a sexual manner. This ties into his fear of falling in love, which causes him to seek shallow relationships built entirely on sex. However, he developes romantic crushes really easily, they just don't tend to last for very long. When they do, he panics, uncertain of what he should do or what he really wants. Such strong feelings for other people scare him, and he considers falling in love to be complete torture.

Kyou prefers to take the easiest route in any situation. He isn't very smart, and doesn't want to have to think too much about any decision he makes, preferring to just wing it. In addition, he's a sheep and will do whatever he thinks people will like him for, and/or whatever "everyone else is doing", even if this involves something dangerous. He's very desperate for social acceptance and can be a little pushy at times in an attempt to get someone to like him. When he clashes with someone, he tends to become very petty and start a lot of screaming matches. He can't fight at all so he doesn't often escalate to physical violence. He also tends to have a jealous streak, lashing out when someone close to him becomes close to someone else. He's very persistant about this and won't ease up without outside intervention.

He is very friendly and tries his best to cheer people up. He tends to come off as hating anything serious and wanting to avoid anything that isn't fun, so it's unexpected when he turns out to be incredibly effective at comforting people who are upset and/or having some type of anxiety attack. In these situations, he is very soothing and always seems to know just what to do without being told; he's just very perceptive, in that way.

Kyou is an extremely heavy sleeper. He does everything that’s obnoxious to do while asleep: steals blankets, kicks, snores, sleep talks, sleep walks, tosses and turns, drools, etc. He is really difficult to wake up. Like nearly impossible to wake up no matter what you do, no matter what happens. He frequently falls off the bed and doesn’t wake up. He’d probably sleep through earthquakes too.

He is good with children, and he likes music, sweet-tasting things, and dogs. He is a huge masochist.

Backstory

Kyou and his twin brother, Kyouya, lived in Aoyama, Tokyo, for most of their life. His parents were cold, unfeeling people only concerned with their sons' abilities as the future heirs to their company, a role neither of them were ever interested in. Kyou specifically held less focus than his brother and used this as much as possible to shirk all responsibilities.

At the beginning of his life, he was a shy kid who didn't know how to speak up or defend himself. He would do what everyone else did no matter the outcome in order to fit in. However, a combination of being meek and the identical twin of someone everyone hated made him a prime target for bullying. Rather than try to report it or defend himself, he would suck up to people in hopes they'd suddenly grow to like him and treat him nicer—instead they all thought he was fucking annoying, and treated him worse.

Changing schools going into middle school got him away from this, only for it to happen all over again for the exact same reason. Only, now it was a lot worse. There were more dangerous people even angrier at his brother that would take it out on him when Kyouya was too powerful to fight head on. Other students that would bear witness to the bullying thought it made Kyou seem pathetic. The only people who were sympathetic were people that didn't mesh well with Kyou's personality, so they didn't work out as friends, leaving him entirely alone. Kyouya was oblivious; Kyou would never tell anyone what was happening, thinking it wasn't worth bothering and nothing would ever change.

Most of the time, he was either being a total sheep, or acting out to avoid responsibility. He was under a lot of stress—and his academics were next to impossible, since his middle school was basically intended for rich geniuses (like his brother). He kept people's expections low while cheating just to pass; his parents had to bribe his high school to let him in at all, to keep the twins enrolled in the same school.

At that point, however, the eye of the law could not be further turned away from Kyou. Kyouya had caused so much trouble for the family that all the attention was on him, and Kyou could flourish. The pattern was broken and no one at school targetted Kyou for bullying because of his brother. He had the opportunity to become someoneto figure himself out; and seeing Kyouya pursue something similar with his art, Kyou went through everything that made him happy until something stuck, and got into music.

He learned the bass guitar purely because he thought girls would find it hot; it's the guitar, but pitched deeper and shows off how good he is with his hands, ladies. He tried out for an amateur band that got into trouble for posting their flyers around school, and was easily accepted. The band became his closest friends and he emulated their personalities, surprised to find it suited him quite well. Rowdy, loud—nothing but good times, good vibes, partying, thrill seeking, drugs, alcohol, sex. It was like he'd opened his eyes for the first time.

Though, he was still operating largely on what he thought was socially acceptable and likeable behavior, even if only to likeminded people. Rejection weighed heavier on him than the average person and he would do anything to avoid it.

After high school, he went into university in pursuit of a degree in music, though he was more interested in the kinds of parties he could go to and the people he could meet or have rowdy sex with. His band didn't follow him and he never actually saw them again, but he'd gotten so used to being the world's biggest extrovert that he made tons of friends immediately, and got into a new band.

Up to that point he'd thought of himself as heterosexual and pretty gender conforming, aside from having long hair and wearing makeup, but that was just punk—he has a lot of excuses like that, things he told others and things he told himself. "Everyone thinks/does these things, it doesn't mean I'm gay"—things like that. While his brother had been gay basically from the start with no period of questioning, Kyou went the opposite path.

But another thing he (thought) he knew about university (from seeing it in media) is that it's the time to start "experimenting", so it's not like anyone's going to spread a rumor that he's gay if he gets drunk at a party and makes out with some dude, right? Everyone does that at least once, right? The end result being that he didn't actually have to be drunk at all to find another man attractive, and enjoyed kissing him a lot, and making out escalated immediately to grinding and Kyou, well. That wasn't what he expected, and he might have panicked a little bit.

He kept the whole thing a secret but got so obsessed with thinking about the experience that he went looking for a repeat performance. In secret. He didn't know why he really liked being held down by strong men and hearing them call him "cute" and make fun of him and be really rough with him and he really didn't expect to be a bottom, or a masochist, or submissive. He didn't know what the fuck was going on with him but it was obvious what got him going and he was addicted to it.

It took a long time before someone pointed out to him that he's clearly bisexual, not gay, something that never even crossed his mind while he was too busy being terrified that everyone would turn on him for homophobic reasons. Over time he slowly but surely embraced this side of himself and learned to let go of his fear of being rejected for it; and he also started looking for femdoms.

Though, he wouldn't find love for a long time. He'd fall for a lot of people, often several at once, but didn't know how to react to having a crush. If he didn't immediately fuck it up, then he'd eventually fuck it up. His relationship with Ruby was short-lived; Soprano only gives him the time of day for the size of his dick; and then he meets Visual.

After university, he emigrated closer to where his brother and then-boyfriend lived. After settling into a new (shitty, rundown) apartment, finding a new band, new friends, and a short-lived crush on his brother's boyfriend, Kaname, he meets a friend of Kyouya's, August, who invites him over to a party at the apartment she shares with her girlfriend and their roommate. At this party, he meets Visual and is instantly attracted to him—and proceeds to fuck up immediately as opposed to eventually. Visual interprets his flirting as crude and inappropriate, none of his jokes land, and his behavior comes across to Visual as obnoxious—until the end result is that Visual thinks Kyou is deliberately trying to piss him off.

Though it seems pointless, Kyou has trouble giving up and keeps trying to get Visual to like him. At first, he believes his interest to be purely sexual; Visual is tall, he's pretty, he's got a nice voice, nice hands, nice hair, piercings, a goth aesthetic, he's kind, funny, charming... and then Kyou realizes he has romantic feelings for Visual. However, because Visual doesn't take him seriously, it falls to August to break the news to Kyou that Visual already has a boyfriend. The news breaks Kyou's heart, but he pretends he was never being serious to begin with.

Not knowing how to act, Kyou starts doing whatever he can to get Visual's attention; positive, negative, any attention is still attention. Plus, he thinks Visual is really hot when he's angry. All the while, Kyou tries to make it really clear that he doesn't hate or even dislike him; Kyou doesn't insult him, or try to hurt him, he's just annoying.

One night, the two of them end up alone together after a party that Kyou got overly drunk at. Visual has to babysit him while Kyou comes on incredibly strong; starting at sexual propositions before revealing that he's jealous of Visual's boyfriend and doesn't see why Visual not being single has to be a road block. Kyou is polyamorous and has been swinging for years.

Though Kyou remembers that night as something that would only make Visual hate him more, the opposite happens. Visual is nice to him, which throws him off so much that he doesn't know how to react. Then Visual brings his boyfriend along to August's tamer parties, and Kyou is instantly infatuated with him. Oshare is adorable in a way only two baby puppies cuddling in a slipper together could ever be. Kyou starts spoiling him, praising him, and flirting with him in a softer, almost prince-like manner, which causes Oshare to become attracted to him quickly. Not long after, Visual asks Kyou on a date.

Their relationship starts off rocky; Kyou is more nervous than he's ever been and Visual isn't sure he isn't just making a huge mistake. Their love styles don't mesh; Kyou wants them to fuck, Visual wants them to slow down and have a nice candlelit dinner, talk, hold hands. Kyou doesn't know how to do any of that and he feels more anxious than he would be if they would just tear each other's clothes off and bang already. Once Visual realizes that deep down, Kyou is incredibly shy and only pretending not to be, Kyou starts to look very cute to him.

Branching out into a triad takes awhile; Visual is overly protective of Oshare, who is softhearted and been through a lot of shit in his life. However, Kyou has been through a lot of similar things, and very quickly proves himself to be a perfect match for Oshare, who attaches himself to Kyou faster than Visual does. It's shocking to Visual to see how easily Kyou fits into their life when his impression of Kyou was so negative for so long.

Outside his romantic life—Kyou has no job and all of his money comes from gigs. He's constantly late on rent and lives a risky, unsteady lifestyle. Every job he's ever tried to hold was short-lived; he'd show up late, mess around too much instead of working, do everything wrong, piss people off, on and on. He firmly believes the capitalistic grind isn't for him (though he's not smart enough to understand what capitalism is) and wants to be a famous musician.

  • He suffers from various parasomnias, namely sleep walking and sleep talking. While he doesn't sleep walk much, he sleep talks constantly. In addition, he typically sleeps at least twelve hours a day.
  • He can play the bass guitar, guitar, and piano/keyboard, but could improvise basically any instrument you handed him decently enough.
  • He speaks Japanese (native) and English.
  • Ambidextrous
