Starting off with a rough childhood, James was sold into slavery by his own father for money. He was forced to work at a textile factory at the age of 12 along with many other kids, one of which picqued his interest. However, through sheer luck he escaped and ran with all he got, leaving dumb dreams of love behind. Even so, after he had barely escaped the factory, he was heckled for being weak and cowardly. Enraged and hurt, James made it his life's purpose to work hard on himself and become a strong and independent man. That way, he could once again reunite with the siblings he lost ever since he was sold off.

It is a serious weakness to be bad at directions, especially if your goal is to find long lost relatives-

So, James made his way northeast, starting his quest at age 15. He did the best he could to survive and keep moving - he was always on the lookout for a sign, a hint, anything. Unfortunately, he would spend 5 miserable years bouncing around from area to area, getting mistreated by locals who considered him an unemployed parasitic burden. He didn't even try talking to people in the last village he ever came across and pressed onwards, with self-doubts about his strengh being pushed away by an overwhelming determination.

The fateful... rescue?

Making it to the Uncharted Lands wasn't an easy journey, but surviving there proved to be much harder. He had only just made it to the Valley of Fear, cold, starved and exhausted... when he suddenly becomes a target for some quite rare monsters: darklings. Found out of breath, helpless, he gets saved by an already strong, independent paladin. He sighs, relieved, only to find out the paladin is a famous outlaw, traitor and former executioner wanted in at least seven kingdoms. Without his consent, the paladin Cailan carries James to a nearby inn where he lets him rest up.

James isn't a man to take "captivity" that easily and protests against getting any help from the paladin, the innkeeper or the innkeeper's wife. Despite that, Cailan helps to bring him back to health and on top of it swears to protect him at all costs for some ungodly reason. His mission was to find his brothers he lost so long ago but now... He is treated well by the inn owner couple, Lord and Soreah... Maybe it isn't so bad here...?

Time passes and so does his frustration with Cailan, who does his best to treat him well. He even gives in to James' nagging and trains him to become a strong fighter! Who would have thought an executioner wouldn't kill him and instead would... Still, James isn't good with swords neither does he want to stay here forever! Or... does he? Cailan is nice, hot and seems to actually care about him, despite the jokes. After spending many months together, James loosens up, even tries to flirt with him. Cailan is shocked by the outcome since he's shared similar feelings ever since he saw him. In one awkward encounter the two find themselves kissing for the first time... and neither let go.

The siblings' mystery unravels

After a lot of nagging, James gets to go on valley patrols with Cailan. He grows closer to Soreah and learns how to cook. Inn life makes him forget about his prior goal of finding his family... especially after bonding with Cailan and getting into life-threatening trouble several times - those darklings really seem to have a grudge against him or something!

Having grown accustomed to inn-life, he is surprised when one of his younger brothers, Jeremy, enters his new home out of the blue. Apparently, once he was freed he never stopped looking. ...Another one he found by chance, after another one of those daily patrols of his. Apparently, John was a priest in a monastery of the other side of the Valley. It was not an easy task to force persuade him to stay over but... all this got him thinking: "There must be more..." After one of Cailan's family members, Kyle Lemongard, shows up looking for him, James makes the decision to initiate his reunion mission yet again!

He, Cailan and Kyle leave the inn in John, Ezaiel and Ozion's capable hands and set out to find information about their lost relatives - James' brothers and Kyle's twin sister Kallisti. Their mission turns out to be more dangerous than they had initially thought and puts Cailan, a renowned traitor, in huge trouble. However, after a year or so, they are able to reunite with all of James' siblings (including two sisters he never knew he had) and Kallisti.

Their trip back from Tarras and Angaar wasn't easy either, especially for James who got roped up in a human-smuggling scheme, leading him to become mute for the rest of the trip. Returning to the Valley of Fear, he softens up and tries to heal along with his boyfriend and... his entire family, all reunited.

It was all in his head

He knows not everyone he's brought back wants to live together. However, that doesn't deter him from trying to build a safe and healthy atmosphere at the now full inn. Cailan and he even buy materials to build a farm so their little family can become independent. But as time goes on, James' dirty thoughts come to haunt him as they materialise into something he calls "Mind James". It was always there with him, ever since he worked at the textile factory, but after meeting Cailan, its voice has been getting louder.

It's now gotten so bad that James has difficulty discerning reality from fiction. Cailan, desperate to learn what this could be, takes him to WizardCon in Elfandor. There, they find out that "Mind James" is a rare occurence of magic manifesting not in the outer world, but inside the wizard's head. So-- J-James is a wizard, much like most his siblings, exactly what he wanted all along! Well... not really, especially since MJ doesn't usually listen to him. With healthy training and self-love, he's able to control the beast and work with him to utilise his magic on anything but himself!
