Personality:

Oliver is heavily introverted and closed off from the world. He is a man of few words, and simply internalizes all of his thoughts and concerns, as his social skills are rather lackluster. He is about as independent as it gets when he's comfortable and familiar with his surroundings, but gets much more of a "shelter in place" mentality of faced with new stimulus.  Ollie has a strong moral compass and is brutally honest at all times, giving him a reputation of being 'ruthless'. Many think he is stuck up, standoffish, and self-centered, and though these things may be partially true in the grand scheme of things, it is not intentional by any means. He's not an openly emotional guy, so to see him smile is a rarity. He seems very cold and unwelcoming to nearly everyone he encounters, and significantly under-reacts to events to the point of it being off-putting. Even the most shocking events seemingly just fly over his head as he remains a "blank slate". It's very strange to most and gives him the reputation of being almost machine-like.

Oliver is very regimented, and likes to create plans for everything. He likes to write out all of his interior thoughts and calculates every possible outcome of a situation, then forming multiple plans for each outcome. He's calculative and wickedly intelligent, despite his seemingly dim, "not all there" nature. He's not one for joking around, and prefers to take things very seriously and stick to the exact plans that have been made. He's very literal and is not one to be hyperbolic or exaggerative and has a hard time understanding idioms, phrases, and sarcasm. He most often will point out the logical discrepancies in common phrases at least under his breath. If his plans are disrupted or he is put into a situation where he is uncomfortable, he easily becomes overwhelmed by stress and goes into a bit of a spiral imternally. This spiral tends to result in him dropping every single thing and storming off to a quiet place to just think by himself, read, and just be alone. His social battery gets drained very quickly. Isolation is his go-to coping mechanism.

Oliver tends to be rather obsessive, most notably with his inexplicable crusade to spread the truth and intense interest and vast knowledge in the field of law. He becomes fully invested into anything he chooses to pursue and cannot stop thinking about it, despite any means of trying to divert his attention to something else. He doesn't tend to care about any interests other than his own, lending to his reputation of being a self-centered ass. He's a very focused, intense person with a lot of passion and breaking his focus is a very difficult thing to manage.

He is very closed off, and is very hesitant to warm up to people. It takes a very long time for him to trust another, and only a couple people have ever earned his trust. He is extremely faithful and loyal, and would die in a heartbeat if it meant that someone he cared about could walk for another day. However, he would never be able to tell someone that he cared about them. Frankly, he simply wouldn't know how. If someone violates his trust, he takes it quite personally and can be rather irrational and overcome by his emotions. Though he may be expieriancing an emotional melt down, on the outside, he still remains stone-faced and stoic, which seems quite sinister and terrifying to the person who betrayed him. His mind is both his own worst enemy and his greatest asset.

Backstory:

Oliver was raised with his younger brother, Charlie, mother and father. Him and his father butted heads a lot, so though they loved one another, Oliver shunned his father's affection most of the time. However, he was extremely close with his mother.

In his teens, however, Oliver's mother passed away. His father was overcome with grief, but his children meant absolutely everything to him, so he did absolutely everything he could to give them a good life. Though his father managed to stay strong, Oliver had a much more difficult time handling it.

Hard times fell on the family, and they began moving around a lot, trying to find the best place for them, so Oliver jumped between many locations. Oliver began to look into being a lawyer, as we is a firm believer in the fact that "everyone has a story to tell". Through a connection from his dad, he received training and advice, and followed that path.

After following that path, Oliver was known for being a very bad lawyer. Though one side of the case had hired him to their defense, Oliver didn't care about the money- he only wanted to speak the truth. He could dig up facts from seemingly nowhere and present an undeniable case, so if you were looking to hire Oliver, you had to be on the right side. Rumors began to spread to the 'Wild West', so Oliver is then beckoned towards Colorado to help solve some dastardly murders and finally restore peace.
