LAUR

23 . they/them . gay

Honorary demolitionist of The Fallen Light.

Laur is very friendly to everyone, and tends to be the go-to person for when crew members feel sad. Laur is very childlike, and often gets a little overbearing in terms of their excitement levels. They are also unintentionally awful at following instructions, either talking over them, forgetting what someone said, or just not listening in the first place.

"Might as well have some fun!"

Event One

The year is 2582, and Bernhard Xenos, captaining the USS Bishop (a United States Spaceship), landed and began colonization on the planet Xenos. Over the next couple hundred years, Xenos grew into a large and populated planet, inspiring humanity to explore even further corners of the galaxy. Throughout many centuries, humanity began to discover new planets, new solar systems, and, most importantly, new species of varying levels of technology. Eventually, 4 central empires developed as people became less focused on individual planets and more focused on entire systems; The Grand Planets (GP), the Galaxy's System of Alliance (GSoA), the Imperial Territories (IT), and the Cosmic Nation (CN).

Each empire started off peacefully, but the peace did not last long. The GP declared war on the IT 3021; it began over a conflict of the planet Monument Prime, which was one of the largest habitable planets known to date. Monument Prime existed in Free Space (the wavering border between the four empires) - specifically, between the IT and the GP. For a long time, Monument Prime existed as a shared factionless planet. The GP started sending more and more soldiers, until tensions grew and a fight broke out. This fight turned into the War of Monument Prime; it started first as a warfield just on the land of Monument Prime, but soon grew until entire nearing planets became targets as well. Both empires refused to yield, and, to many, it seemed as though the war would continue until one empire lost all of their planets.

Event Two

The year is 3071, and Laur is born on Kalius. Within the year, Laur and their family move to Station X, as their parents deem Kalius (and the IT empire in general) an unsafe place to raise children. Laur spent their entire life on Station X, a factionless station located in Free Space where the borders of the four empires meet. With the war as advanced as it was upon Laur's birth, they never really knew what a peaceful Station X looked like - however, even in the span of their 22 years on the station, they saw tensions and hostility rise to unbelieveable levels. Places where Laur was once able to start friendly conversations with strangers quickly grew into unsafe areas where talking risked being assaulted.

Event Three

The year is 3094, and Laur begins to hear about a new rebel group fighting against the war and for all people. Upset with the hostility they've seen firsthand, and hearing about the awful cruelties committed by both the GP and the IT, Laur decides to seek them out. They find Alistair and Krow, who eagerly accept Laur into their new group.

Alistair first met Laur when he and Krow were sought out by the Kalun. Alistair was eager to build up The Fallen Light and accepted Laur into their ranks; since then, he and Laur have grown close, and Alistair (despite often being stressed by Laur's antics) is very appreciate of their lightheartedness.

Krow
Leader

Krow first met Laur when they and Alistair were sought out by the Kalun. Krow was wary of Laur and their positivity for a long time, but the two are now friends (despite what Krow may say).

Rowry
Crewmate

Laur was the only one with the slightest clue what Rowry was when the crew first found it, and could only tell them that it's an Orbun thing. Laur LOVES Rowry and has been trying desperately to learn its language (with no success).

Wycket Wyl
Crewmate

Laur first met Wycket when she joined The Fallen Light after being saved by the crew, and they immediately formed a close relationship. They treat each other like siblings, and Laur was the first person to get her to open up.

Prince Sybil
Antagonist -> Crewmate

After Sybil defected from his empire and joined the Fallen Light, Laur was one of the only ones to treat him as a crewmate from the start. Somehow, this made Sybil hate them even more than the others. Laur is aware of this, but likes to play dumb and continue to act like they're best friends.
