History.
Katsuki was once a human girl who became a victim to some gods' game of slaughter. Her patron god was none other than the God of Summer and was mauled to death by a lion during her trial. Afterward, she was given the Gift of Bereavement and became trapped inbetween the worlds of the living and the near shore of the dead. After her patron god won the game, Katsuki betrayed him by stabbing him with a pair of enchanted scissors.
A new world was born and Katsuki became the God of Death, allowing her to freely traverse the worlds of the living and the dead. Her title caused all mortals to fear her and a few fellow gods to distance themselves from her. Katsuki mostly lived her life in solitude within the realm of the dead until she took pity upon a wisp of the summer haze, Kamui, who she gave the power of sentience. However, Katsuki and Kamui grew distant, and Katsuki did not have the will to continue existing. Thus, she participated in the next round of the gods' game as a way to end her immortality. Not long before she died from the game, she made a new friend that she regretted not meeting beforehand. At that moment, Katsuki wished she could turn back time and start over again.
Katsuki awoken in a forest clearing with an arrow lodged into her chest. Not long after observing the world around her did she realize that she somehow possessed the body of an alternative self of another world. After centuries of adapting to her new role, she stumbled across a child that looked extremely like her dear Kamui. So, Katsuki interfered with the matters of the living and saved the child from what should have been his death. Katsuki raised the child and gave him the same name as her previous son figure, Kamui. However, Kamui's attachment to Katsuki grew unhealthy and led Katsuki to force him to live a more carefree life in hopes he would learn to cherish his mortal life.
