Kosho was Kamuy Tanchouzuru's crane familiar, sworn to serve Kamuy. Kosho was basically his right-hand man... well bird at least. They were the head of the small flock of cranes that stayed around the shrine, and often flew to and from the shrine carrying scrolls.

Shio is Kosho's distant descendant. Since their old master does not work at a shrine anymore, Shio acts as less of a faithful servant and more like a pet. Often hanging around Kamuy's friend- Uwabami, Shio spends a life of mostly lounging around Uwabami's garden and demanding pets and treats regularily. Sometimes Shio does prove himself useful, flying between Uwabami and Tanchouzuru to relay messages.
