About
Laid-back • Spontaneous • Irresponsible
Riff "Riff-Raff" Nightgaze is a somewhat washed-up, demon rockstar, with the powers of a siren (the ones that lure you in with their singing, not the WEEOOO-ones), who hasn't left his reckless youth behind, even if he's seemingly getting a bit too old for the things he does. He's cheating a bit on account of being a demon, who doesn't have to worry about stuff like blood pressure, alcohol poisoning and lung problems, but eh! That just makes it easier to keep going!
Always searching for something exciting to do, or someone fun to hang out with, Riff doesn't care much for responsibilities or obligations, very much preferring to just be himself and do his own thing. He's been thriving on that energy the last few years, as he has somewhat settled down in the magical realm, Mahou Wando. He's gotten to leave his old life behind and make a new one with whatever pieces he still wanted to keep. He's even made a bit of a name for himself. Whether that's a good name or a bad name, probably depends on who you ask.
Details
- The red hair tuft and red hair gradient should be included when drawing him
- His hands are bright red. The colour doesn't come off
- The markings on his arms do not need to be EXACTLY like on his ref, as long as they look like thorn vines
- In human form, he keeps the vine markings on his arms

Persona
"I ain't done having fun just yet!"
Usually never seen without a big grin and his sunglasses, Riff radiates a certain vibe wherever he goes. What kind of vibe? Well, that depends. Some would probably describe it as that of an irritating, selfish idiot. Others might be kinder, and describe it more like that of an enthusiastic and charming rockstar. (Riff would call the first description rude, and make a ">B7" face about it. Or he'd laugh and shrug it off. Again, it depends.) There might be some truth in both reads on him. With a generally carefree attitude, Riff prefers to go with the flow, have a good time while doing so and not think too hard about... Anything, really. It's simple! If there's a party, he wants to be there, and if he isn't having fun, he'll probably be leaving soon. Even if he's an immortal demon, he's of the opinion that life is still too short to waste on doing stuff you don't want to do.
There's more to him than that, though. The fun-loving rockstar surface isn't just a facade, it is just one part of him. The one that most people see. It's the part of him he prefers to show off because it's the most fun to show off and to be around. But he can be surprisingly soft too. He's crass and wild, yes, but he's also understanding and caring. At least with the people he feels close to. A stranger crying to him at a party is likely to make him uncomfortable, but if a loved one is upset, he's there to listen with no judgement. It's a more vulnerable and exhausting side to show, so it's not everyone who gets to see it.
Speaking of exhausting sides, Riff can come across as careless and lazy, with the attitude he has towards avoiding stuff that he finds boring. He seems unwilling or unable to put in any work if it's not immediately rewarding. This is only half-true. He doesn't like doing things he finds boring, and will often avoid it, but if he has a goal he's determined to reach (something that, granted, doesn't happen that often), Riff will work until he gets it, with nothing to stop him. It usually comes in small bursts, and involves him staying up all night to write a song, or going to get materials for a guitar at 2 am because he can't stop yet, he's almost done. But the fact that he went from a complete nobody to a rockstar, is a testament to what he can do when that driven side of himself shows up.

Traits
Siren's Song
Control:
Riff's most powerful ability is his power to control people with his voice or his music. He can change the vibes in a room or amongst a crowd, he can gently persuade someone to choose one thing over the other, and he can straight up mind control a person. Riff finds the mind control bit pretty creepy, though, so he tends to only use this power to lighten the mood, or excite a crowd at a concert.
Mimicry
Copy cattiness:
An excellent skill for pranks! Riff can copy sounds he hears, and repeat them perfectly. Cool right? Yeah, well, it gets better. He can change his voice to copy other people's voices too! He can even add some "filters" to that, and do stuff like sound echo-y, or sound like his voice is coming through an old radio.
Shapeshifting
Shifty skills:
Riff can shapeshift a bit. He can change how old he looks, he can remove his demon traits and he can change his body to fit whatever gender expression he feels like.
Story
Origin
Resolve Endeavour was born to Victory Endeavour, Heaven's High Prosecutor, and thus, he was an angel with some big shoes to fill. Luckily, he had his older brother, Clarity, to help him! The two would become a prosecution duo! They'd help each other through the struggles they might have! Resolve struggled with all the paperwork and court procedures and work ethics, and Clarity could help with that! Clarity was super smart! He was always good at all those things! And Resolve was good at... Well, he could sing really well! And he could make people do things with his singing. That could probably be useful for something? If anything, it sounded nice! It was all going to work out just fine. He wasn't the greatest prosecutor pupil, but he had his mom and his brother to rely on! They knew he loved them and he knew they loved him, and that was all that mattered!
... At least he thought so... But then came the fall...
Rockstar life
After spending a couple of years alone on the streets, his soul taken from him along with his entire world (no need to talk about that in detail, it was a bummer), Resolve took the name Riff Nightgaze and began to take on the music industry. Combining his excellent singing and guitar skills, with a dash of his siren powers, he soared to the top, going from a nobody to a rockstar in record time. He was at the top of his game in the '80s, living the rockstar life with all the chaos that came with that package. After all, why not live as fast as possible, when you don't have to worry about dying young?
It wasn't all fun and glamour, though. His willingness to trust the wrong people and his irresponsible and adrenaline-seeking nature led him to bad decisions and down dark paths, that ended up taking a toll on him mentally. Everything slowly became a blur. Things and people lost meaning. HE lost meaning.
Mahou Wando
Years of this passed before something changed up his turbulent yet weirdly static life. A small key, that transported him to the realm of Mahou Wando. Here, he not only found his biological son (whom he hadn't seen since he had given him away as a baby), but also several old and new friends that made life feel fun again. After having gone through both highs and lows in this realm, Riff has no intentions of returning to his old realm.
Relationships
Marguerite Novalise
Sun
On the surface, Marguerite and Riff probably look like one of those celebrity couples that are only together because they look great together. And while they do indeed look STUNNING standing next to each other, their relationship is anything but shallow. Having started out as just friends casually flirting with each other, Riff and Marguerite have become each other's longest-lasting romantic partners, and neither of them has plans on breaking that streak. Riff loves Marguerite. He feels safe with her, while still having a blast. She is honest, she listens, and Riff finds her so easy to be around, never having to apologise for being himself, and never feeling like she judges him for who he is and what he does. He loves being around her, no matter if they're hosting fancy parties, if they're on a silly date, or if they're just... Being around each other. Their sunship isn't a marriage, but a promise to each other. And to Riff, that promise is that even if he goes away at times, as long as she wants him to, he'll always come back to Marguerite.
Tracy Dick Valentine
Star
These two... These two go WAY back! Back when Riff was at the very height of his career, and one of the lowest points in his mental state, he met a strange person called "Mister Valentine", and stuff just took off from there. After not having seen him for decades, Riff was ecstatic to hang out with his old pal again, when he ran into him again in Mahou Wando. Having gone through the best of times and the worst of times together both in and out of the realm, the two became stars. Riff is always down to do more or less stupid stuff with his buddy. Going out drinking, cheating at cards, riding motorcycles in unsafe ways or breaking into a mall at 2 AM to get ice cream. You name it, as long as it sounds like a fun time! Riff doesn't just see Tracy as a free ticket to an adrenaline rush, though. Not at all. He loves his star and is always ready to support him without any judgement, whether that be by giving Tracy a BONK with his Clock Breaker crowbar to revive him, or by listening to him and lifting the mood a bit if things seem stressful.
Richard James Valentine
Great friend!
One of the first new people Riff met in Mahou Wando, he got to talk to him because he mistook him for Tracy. That was cleared up after a night out drinking, and Riff decided to keep hanging around Richard because he thought he seemed sad, and he wanted to cheer him up. He since came to realise that Richard isn't sad (just kinda tired), and isn't as determined to cheer him up, as he is to just spend time with him. After a trip to the hospital the two became roommates for several years, and while they aren't roommates anymore, Riff still hangs out with Richard when he has the chance to do so. He loves and cares about his pal a whole lot, and he has a very deep respect for him, as he is excellent at staying grounded when Riff feels lost (his ability to hold his liquor, ride motorcycles and Flipfish and just his surprising physical strength are also things Riff very much respects.)
Pulse Nightgaze Boss
Bio son
Not willing to give up the rockstar life, and not feeling like he'd be a good parent, Riff gave Pulse away after he had looked after him for roughly a year. After having had 0 attempted contact with him for 16 years, Riff thought he'd give talking to the kid a shot! Unfortunately for him, Pulse didn't appreciate the surprise family reunion, and the relationship was more than just a bit icy at first. However, Pulse has slowly seemed to warm up to his biological dad, and Riff tries his best to be, perhaps not a dad, but an adult he can go to for help and support.
Clarity Endeavour
Brother
His older brother. He hadn't seen him in years and was perfectly content with that, and then he just showed up in Mahou Wando to ruin everything! Whatever. He makes Riff uncomfortable and he doesn't want to be near him.
Victory Endeavour
Mother
That's... Mom... Riff is not exactly on speaking terms with her, considering she's the one who had him cast from Heaven back when he was a teen. He doesn't like talking about her, and he certainly doesn't want to talk TO her.
