Radbert Nightgaze would probably refer to himself as an up-and-coming celebrity, or maybe a future big shot in the music industry. Some might say that's kinda arrogant. Radbert would say it's ambition. Whatever it is, he's not quite there yet. Struggling to get his solo career to really take off, for now, he's often seen on HeartsKQ decapodcast, where he's known for his cold, cutting commentary, and technical knowledge.
Personality
Radbert (yes, really. You can just call him Rad) is the oldest of the Nightgaze siblings, and he takes a fair amount of pride in that. He takes a fair amount of pride in everything he does, honestly. He's a smart young man, and he won't let you forget it! With a cold and calculating vibe to him, it's no wonder people who don't really know him think he's kinda scary. The few people who are slightly closer to him, however, are likely to see him less as the intimidating genius he'd like to be seen as, and more as a nerd with some underlying anger issues. Which one is the correct interpretation? Eh. It's probably a mix of both, to be honest.

Origins
Starting his life in Octo Valley, Radbert became part of the Octarian military from a young age and was considered a bit of a prodigy in many ways. With a great strategic mind, he was on his way to becoming a high-ranking member of the army. However, seeing his leader fail left him disillusioned, and after the second time it happened, he and his younger brother Riff gathered up their two youngest siblings and left for the surface. They all moved to Splatsville and formed a fairly successful band called 4x8. This wouldn't last, as Riff seemed to keep forgetting that he wasn't the frontman, and the band ended up splitting up, and the siblings all went separate ways.
Current life
These days, Radbert is doing pretty well for himself, all things considered. He's doing great in Turf War and Anarchy Battles. He likes living on his own in his own apartment, without having to share his space with three younger siblings. Less crowded, more peace and quiet. It has also let him take his music in entirely his own direction, which is very freeing. Now... If only more people listened to his music... And if only fewer people listened to Riff's music...
Yeah, the fact that his younger brother has managed to find success with his music, AND that he has also gotten fame through the Decapodcast Rosegold Tides he co-hosts with his idol girlfriend annoys him to no end. How is it fair that his brainless younger brother gets to be more successful than him? Whatever. It's not like Radbert isn't successful himself... His music has a solid underground following, and he has begun to rise in fame! Even if that's mostly because of his appearances on his frienemy Killer Kingy's Decapodcast. That's fine. He gets noticed by a bigger audience, and he gets to dunk on turfers who don't know what they're doing. Win-win!

Youngest brother
Rain is probably Radbert's favourite sibling. He's quiet, smart and never tried to steal the spotlight when they were all in a band. He’d probably be an easy target for Kingy, but Radbert won’t have it.
Sister
He likes that she’s pretty responsible for her age, and she’s not stupid. But he could do without her attitude and her acting like she’s better than him.
Younger brother
Ugh, where to even begin? Self-absorbed would be a good place. It’s his fault their original band failed. He wanted the spotlight for himself. He’s irresponsible, vain and stupid. The fact that he’s also successful is just the cherry on top of the pile of annoying traits he has.
"Friend"
Friend seems like a strong word to use for Kingy. He’s mostly just a rich idiot, who Radbert uses for clout. He’s annoyingly popular, and while he’s not fond of being on his show, Radbert sees it as a necessary evil he just needs to deal with to get ahead.

Riff-Raff Nightgaze! If you follow the Spatville music scene you know this name, and you better remember it! This Octoling has been climbing the charts and he doesn't have any plans of slowing down anytime soon! Known for his rock music, the Rosegold Tides Decapodcast and for being a beast in Turf Wars, Riff's got plenty of claims to fame, and he loves the spotlight as much as it seems to love him!
Personality
Riff, often going by the stage name "Riff-Raff", is a popular musician, who can't seem to slow down for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Even if he can, he's doing his best to avoid it. Riff loves adrenaline and action more than anything else, and he has been thriving in Inkling society ever since he got here, fitting in perfectly with the fresh and fun-loving locals. It's no wonder he's been climbing the celebrity food chain as fast as he has. This whole game is one he was born to play, and he does it well, effortlessly fitting in with both the glamourous and the gritty parts of Splatsville.

Origins
Riff didn't ever really feel super at home in Octo Valley. He got some recognition because of his musical skills and from being physically adept, but the Octarian Military never really felt like it was suited for him. Or maybe he wasn't suited for it...? Whatever he didn't like it, that's the main point! After seeing DJ Octavio beaten (again) and hearing the Calamari Inkantation, Riff was itching to try and go to the surface. He and his older brother Radbert gathered up their two younger siblings and left soon after. When they all got there, they had the idea to start a band called 4x8, and they were pretty good! They were doing well, but a bunch of creative differences and stupid arguing led to them all splitting up and going in different directions.
Current life
Splitting up was probably for the best because Riff has been doing great ever since. Becoming the solo act Nightgazer, he's been sweeping the Splatlands with his guitar and vocal skills. And speaking of sweeping, he's become part of a Decapodcast too! (The sweeping-thing will make sense in a bit, promise!) Along with his Inkling idol girlfriend Marguerite, he runs the Rosegold Tides Decapodcast, where the residents of Splatsville can tune in and hear the two of them talk about whatever they feel like. With a tagline like "Rosegold Tides here to sweep you away in style" (See? It makes sense!), it's no surprise that a lot of what they want to talk about is fresh new fashion styles, but they also do some fun gossiping, and Turf War talk too!
Does he miss spending more time with his siblings? Sure. It would be nice if they all got along. But they don't, so that's kinda it. It's in the past, and Riff lives for the present. He's too busy having fun with his music, vibing with his girlfriend and splatting in Turf War to worry about stuff that has already happened.

The coolest of his siblings, in his not-so-humble opinion. He mostly runs into her when they’re both Turfing or in Anarchy Battles, and that’s always a blast! She’s fun and likes action as much as himself!
Younger brother
Little Rain. Riff thinks he’s very sweet, but it was always kinda hard for him to vibe with him. He’s a bit too introverted and quiet. He still loves his little brother, though! And he’s found out the two of them can bond over music, so that’s cool at least!
Older brother
Bleh! You won’t find an Octoling who’s more of a stick in the mud than Radbert, at least not in Riff’s opinion. He’s about as charming as a Salmonid with his constant frown and dry tech ramblings. His music is… Admittedly pretty good, but that’s the only positive about him!
Girlfriend and co-host
That’s his hot idol girlfriend and she’s like the freshest Inkling he knows! With an air of glamour over her, the two seem like they’d be complete opposites, and they kinda are, but also kinda aren’t. The latter is obvious when they talk on Rosegold Tides, both lounging in their comfortable seats, chatting about style and Splatland news, and both looking gorgeous, relaxed and effortless while doing it.

Rush-Hour is a name anyone who follows along with Anarchy Battles will have heard of! This young Octoling managed to climb to the top of the ranks in record time, and she has stayed at the top ever since! Whether she does it by running you over, or by hitting you with an expertly flung blob of ink, if Rush has you in her sights, chances are you're gonna get splatted!
Personality
Rush "Rush-Hour" Nightgaze is admired by the public and feared by her fellow turfers. She's confident, cool and rowdy, unwilling to let anyone tell her what to do and how to do it! But even though she's definitely cool, she can also be surprisingly warm, which is most easily seen in how she looks after her little brother Rain. She loves her brother a lot and always does her best to make sure he's happy and safe. She is quick to stand up to people being mean to those weaker than themselves and will either call them out on it or just straight up try to fight them, if words don't work. There's no point in wasting a bunch of time on trying to talk sense into someone who won't listen!

Origins
Rush doesn't remember too much about her life in Octo Valley. She wasn't old enough to be in the Octarian army, but she remembers being told she had potential and having a lot of fun trying out some of the weaponry that her two older brothers were getting trained to use. Most of her time was spent playing with weapons or playing the drums, and she was (and still is) good at both. She was only 10 when her older brothers took her and their youngest brother Rain with them to the surface. She loved it from the moment she got there. Everything was new and exciting and super cool! The four siblings started a band, and everything was great for a while! However, Rush quickly found out that sticking with her older brothers wasn't going to work out. They kept bickering over stupid things, and Rush didn't feel like dealing with it, so she grabbed Rain, moved out and hasn't looked back since.
Current life
Nowadays Rush is busy doing her own thing while taking care of her little brother, but she's happy with her life! She earns enough to make everything work, by ruling in Turf Wars and Anarchy Battles, and by doing some Salmon Run on the side, and she's having a blast doing it! She's not really keeping too much up with what Riff and Radbert are doing. She runs into Riff in matches sometimes, and that's always super fun, but that's about it.
She really doesn't mind it. She loves being able to have control over her own life and not having to listen to anyone. She's happy with the life she's built for herself and she's proud of what she has achieved in a very short time. Even if that comes at the cost of not seeing her other brothers a lot. If they ever stop fighting, they can all start hanging out again, maybe, but not a moment before.

Her favourite brother! Rush looks after Rain, and is quite protective of him. She likes that he doesn’t want to argue and fight with everyone, but she does hope that he’ll be better at standing up for himself at some point.
Older brother
Riff is pretty fun, Rush won’t deny that. She actually likes hanging out with him a lot. They have a lot in common. His ego is just pretty annoying. That and his bickering with Radbert. Other than that he’s cool enough.
Oldest brother
He’s pretty responsible which is nice. But only really for himself. He’s got just as big of an ego as Riff, and he doesn’t even have the bonus of being fun.

Rain is a very young Octoling who came to the surface with three of his siblings. He’s too young for Turf War or Salmon Run, and doesn’t have full control over his kid-form yet. He's very musically talented, but rarely shows those skills off, and prefers to just quietly beat others in Tableturf, instead of drawing attention to himself with his singing.
Personality
Rain, also known as Rainstorm, is a very quiet kid. In fact, many people assume that he's either mute or hasn't learned the language yet, because of how silent he is. In reality, Rain is just incredibly shy, and self-conscious about his Octoling accent to boot. He rarely goes anywhere without his big sister Rush close by, as he's kinda scared of the chaotic Splatsville streets. The only place to really catch him without her close by, is by the Tableturf board, where he will happily go on his own. His confidence soars during these matches, and you might even catch him humming to himself as he plays.

Origins
Born in Octo Valley, Rain was practically dragged to the Splatlands by three of his siblings, from a very young age. He doesn't remember much of his first home, as he was really only a toddler when they all left.
Upon reaching Splatsville, the quartet of siblings made a small name for themselves, by forming a band known as 4x8. However, disagreements between his two older brothers lead to the band splitting up, and his sister, Rush, deciding that this family was falling apart, found a place to live without her older siblings, and took Rain with her. Rain didn't mind the band ending too much... Being in the spotlight like that wasn't something he was fond of anyway.
Current life
Cut to now, and not much has changed for Rain since then. He still lives with Rush, and while he does miss all of them being together, he likes the less tense vibes that are at Rush's place, compared to when he lived with the rest of his siblings. He still hears from his brothers (though, it's mostly when they're each doing their respective podcast appearances) and does hang out with them too at times, but they're both very busy with their own things...
It's fine, Rain has stuff to do himself! When he's not hanging out with his sister, he's browsing shops for fresh new outfits (the day his kid-form is properly developed and he can wear shoes that aren't just sandals will be a day of celebration for him), or playing Tableturf. He's gotten pretty good at the latter and has a lot of fun playing with random people, who sometimes underestimate him because of his young age.

Rain thinks Riff is very fun! But… A bit much… Maybe…? He’s loud and wild and a bit overwhelming to deal with at times. Rain prefers it when he’s just calmly playing music for him.
