Profile

yet another dnd character! this one was made entering the campaign a bit late, so uhhh. things happened. they have amnesia how fun. I dont even know some of my backstory, im finding out this stuff along with my character

also the scars on their face and neck kinda are more akin to burn scars im just Bad

Personality Traits: They’re very curious about magic and how it works within the world. Most of their life has been spent devoted to their studies, and as a result they tended to keep their head low in social settings. Even so, they tend to try and go above and beyond to prove that they can actually hold their own. They are a bit haughty.

Ideals: They simply crave knowledge. They want to know how far the boundaries can go, but they believe they should hold themself back from this type of curiosity. They want to feel in control of what they are doing, especially now. They value loyalty, and they felt that that was compromised. So, while they are still attempting to pull themselves together, they put their loyalty in someone else.

Bonds: They spent so much time studying and researching and theorizing, and it all got thrown back in their face. They still consider the work important, but without it they feel lost. To find something new to work towards, they work with their patron (albeit a bit reluctantly at first). But they can appreciate what she stands for.

Flaws: They very much try not to let their emotions get the better of them, but they will act on impulse despite their intentions. It does not take much to win them over; they think having spent so much time in their own head they know how it works, but they don’t realize how easily outside sources get in there sometimes.

Before Siryl woke up to the haunting mask of a woman surrounded by feathers, he remembered a few things. He remembered being in the company of an older man, clearly expecting him to go along with whatever thing he was planning. Siryl smiled and went to work, and while the man wasn't looking, shakily administered the wrong potion into the veins of the almost lifeless body before him. The man did the same to the other body in the room, and after a moment there began a transformation. The brilliant white light that emanated from the man turned dark, and the screaming began. The next thing Siryl knew they were being choked by a bloody red arm, and then an explosion. Then he remembered the relieved face of a larger man. He smiled when he saw Siryl, and it was bright against their dull surroundings and their rusty chains. They remembered the same face telling someone with a spell book there was something inside of him, and that it had to be removed.

The woman looked him up and down and immediately expressed her distaste in a person like him, but she laughed and said he seemed important. Someone like him could help her, and it clearly seemed someone cared about him enough to give him their own life. She smiled when he shakily agreed, and she sent him on his way. He fell into blackness once again.

The first thing Siryl felt in their new life was something trying to make its way out of his throat. In the company of a larger seemingly human man and a large tortle woman, a bird formed from the inky black goo and found its place on their shoulder. They looked at their hands, covered in scars and runes and callouses, and was immediately given an apology. Their friend that they hardly remembered was gone, and he tried so hard to save Siryl, and would he like to see him?

They did, and they hardly felt anything. He thought that was strange. Kneeling next to him, he remembered a soft voice speaking Undercommon. He would be with their brothers and sisters.

Siryl was on a ship. The captain asked what Siryl could do, and he didn't know. The captain, also seemingly regarding him with disdain (though, unbeknownst to Siryl. The raven on his shoulder noticed), promoted someone and told Siryl they were the new deckhand. Going through their duties, the paladin he woke up to informed him about who he was. Or, at least, who his friend, Sarran, said he was. According to him, he and Siryl were soldiers, fighting on the front lines of some border dispute between the Dwendalian Empire and Xhorhas. Siryl didn't like talking about it, or whatever gave them the scar on their face. Something or another happened, and they were captured. Whatever happened in those times gave them the runes their body was covered with, and it allowed Sarran to make a deal with someone to get them out of Wildemount. He was informed that they were in fact on the Menagerie Coast, so... that didn't work. Also they may or may not have been wanted. Fun stuff to learn for being alive for twelve hours.
