Subaru is Altair and Rigel's pet German Shepherd. He's a sweet, well-trained, and playful dog who just wants to follow his two favorite humans everywhere they go. He often joins them on their space expeditions and is adored by most of the Aquila crew. During his stay onboard the ship, he ended up becoming like an emotional support animal to everyone. A very good boy. Deserves all the treats and head scratches. 

Trivia

• His name is the Japanese word for a star cluster called Pleiades.
• He's Altair's emotional support dog and helps comfort him whenever he's stressed or anxious. He also helps him calm down from anxiety attacks. 
• He wears little boots on his paws to keep him from slipping on the floors of Altair's ship.
• He's very well trained and knows plenty of tricks. Altair and Rigel spent a lot of time training him because they were worried about him running off and getting hurt.
• He gets along well with other animals, including Eclipse.
• Altair wants people to think he only got Subaru because he wanted a big mean attack dog to threaten people with... not because he actually has a soft spot for dogs. He also never lets Subaru get close to the fighting because he's worried the dog will get hurt.
• Altair got Subaru when the pup was about 3-4 months old. Subaru was left alone in a hot car and was beginning to show signs of heat exhaustion when Altair found him. Altair broke Subaru out and rushed him to a vet where he recovered. After finding out more about Subaru's mistreatment, Altair murdered the owner and took Subaru to live with him instead.
