Personality: calm and collected, not much can ruffle her feathers - if she had any. She's proud of her family and her own abilities. Knows she's pretty and doesn't try to hide it, but is sensible and practical - most days. She has her moments of insecurity, but usually it's masked by her superior attitude. She excels at hunting and has trained herself hard to surpass her mother's abilities to get out from beneath her matron's paw.
History: Born in a litter of three unusually late in the spring, Auriga's two siblings did not make it through their first winter, leaving her alone with her strict and over-protective mother. Living in a small pride of uncles and their mates, she had plenty of elders to offer sage advice - whether she wanted it or not. Still, Auriga was respectful of their knowledge and gave them the deference they felt they deserved. As she grew older, she chafed beneath her mother, who she felt never quite taught her everything she needed to know. When she became an adult, her sire began searching for a suitable male, but she didn't appreciate the control over her future mate. Every male that she found had to be vetted by her mother and none managed to get that far to be approved by her sire. This began to frustrate her more and more until she had enough and decided to leave. For a year, her favorite uncle managed to convince her to stay, but at the end, Auriga had had enough and left. Still, she did not have any luck finding a mate. Any time Auriga managed to get close, something scared them off, though she couldn't for the life of her figure out why. Her sire wasn't frightening to the other prides, he was respected by his pride and his allies, but not feared. In desperation, Auriga began hunting for an older male who might be less terrified of some mysterious aura that appeared to be following her. She found a few, but again, something shied them off and most stopped contact with her entirely, a few giving her polite brush offs after a while.

Auriga ran into Hualiama when the maltese was sunning himself on a flat rock in the middle of a placid river. She hadn't realized he was there until he politely asked her to take her fishing elsewhere, startling her into an undignified squeak, but he only seemed amused rather than irritated. Hesitantly, she struck up a conversation, offering to share her catch in apology, which Li accepted, sitting up to share his rock so Auriga could dry off. At first, she found him rather off-putting, as he didn't seem to care about much of anything, but liked his quiet manner and polite attitude. Auriga asked if she could travel with him and received a non-committal answer, but decided if Li didn't actually *care* then it was all right. Maybe if she didn't treat him like a potential mate, then this shadow following her wouldn't react as such.

Her hopes were dashed, however when Li told her she had someone following her. Shocked by the revelation, Auriga could only shake her head, wondering who it was, expecting it to be one of the previous suitors she'd rejected from long ago. Before she could begin looking for him, however, Li took offense to the shadow one night and Auriga was woken by the sounds of fighting. Shocked and rather scared to discover who was there, Auriga was flabbergasted to find Li fighting one of her uncles. Terrified they'd actually hurt one another - why was Li *fighting*? - Auriga got in the way and demanded an explanation of her uncle. Hurt to find it had been him shooing off any family she could have had by now, she was floored when Li growled at that discovery, defending her right to find her own mate. Li objected when her uncle demanded Auriga return home and all but shooed the male away bodily, refusing to back down until he left. Since then, Auriga's stayed by Li's side, enjoying his company.
