Overview

Hello, Good Day, and what a wonderful Night- it's News Today with Ree Porter!

You'd think as the only real television news reporter in town that Ree would have an entire team of people helping them put together every broadcast, but surprisingly Ree does almost everything themself. That includes getting the scoops, interviewing people, writing scripts, filming and editing... I think they even repair equipment when they can't get Geoff to do it for them! The only other employee I've seen working there has been the new weather woman, Morriah Cyrrus, who appears to be slowly taking over other sections of the job in order to help alleviate some of Ree's work load. I haven't had the guts to tell him who her family is yet, and frankly, I don't really want to given how much effort she's put into leaving that terrible life behind with the Continnum, much like her sister. The two get along great and since her addition to the new cast the ratings have gone up steadily every week!

The only issue I have with this reporter is how often they seem to get themselves into sticky situations - forget worrying about media hounds trying to interview me for information on an ongoing investigation, this maniac will wear full on disguises and sneak into the investigation itself just to learn more! I've had to save their hide on more occasions than one thanks to this. The strangest place I've ever found them was inside Centipooch's dog house. What in the world were they even looking for inside there!? They're just lucky I didn't cite them for trespassing.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard I seem to try to keep them at bay and out of dangerous places, Ree manages to find their way there like a fly to a honey pot. They ended up getting mind controlled by the notorious little alien computer virus, Felix, and nearly helped it take over the entire city recently. Somehow Felix managed to infiltrate the tech in Ree's glasses and use it to send subliminal messaging to the reporter, fully capturing them under Felix's twisted control. Thankfully Ree was unharmed by the experience, albiet they had one heck of a headache after wards [as did everyone else], but they've certainly taken my warnings with more seriousness from that point on.

Physical Notes
Moustache is optional. The moustache isn't actually real, given how often Ree changes outfits/disguises in order to get the best scoop. It took too long to regrow each time they shaved it off, so now they just tape one on instead.
Glasses are TV screens. Their eyes are actually considerably smaller then the glasses make them look. It's unknown if their eye sight is bad or if they just like the enhanced look the glasses give them, but they look rather uncomfortable to wear. The glasses also double as camera's.
Has 4 known disguises Each disguise has their own outfit and quirks, each with their own interview style and back stories [that always change depending on the day you meet them]. All of them are also non-binary, as Ree is.
Their eyes are tiny pupils under the glasses, which magnify their size.
Their outfits are usually always very disheveled, given how busy they are at any given time being the main crew for the News Today.
Personality/Character Notes
  • Is the only TV reporter in town. Which begs the question as to who they think is trying to steal their stories... but Ree is a beloved member of the town - even if they're antics to make a story great are a bit... ridiculous.
  • Bit of a tech-nerd. While not a technician/scientist themselves, they are at least very good at maintaining and fixing their own cameras, lights, computers, and microphones for the daily news.
  • Runs all segments of the news, minus Weather. Thankfully for them the daily show doesn't always include every segment - or else I have no idea how they'd ever get any sleep.
  • Constantly gets into weird situations. As weird as that sounds - they're an expert at getting in to the strangest situations ever in order to get more information. Most people don't even realize they're around given how many disguises they wear as well.
