Kaisara

Kaisara is the leader of the Coastal Tribe. He is half Karkan. His dam, Aluran, was captured by the Karkan and impregnated and was later found by Egalan who nursed him back to health and helped him through his pregnancy. Aluran did not want his baby and so Kaisara was taken in by Egalan.

Egalan pushed and shoved him emotionally until he managed to learn some empathy. (Half-Karkans have limited telepathy, but are stunted in their ability to feel empathy towards others.) He can come off as aloof to strangers, but is very caring towards his tribe, if firm. His everyn is Lavni, and he has a big brother relationship with Ronan. His son born during the course of the story is Henric, named after Henry.

While Kaisara grew up in a loving tribe and felt no dislike for being half-karkan by them, when he traveled with his father he learned that not all tribes were the same. Facing such prejudice, he developed internal hatred for his karkan blood and can at times come off as self-deprecating. Despite this, he knows his own worth and is strong in his convictions and a good leader.

His name means "Red Star".
