Pyre (Ruby Fusion)

Pyre (Ruby Fusion) || They/Them || Ardent || Exiled

Pyre is the fusion between the two Rubies nicknamed Fever and Sombre*. They have crimson, blood-coloured freckled skin, one gem on their chest and another on their belly. Their right eye is scarred and blind, as per Sombre's contribution. They primarily wear shorts, heeled boots, a spiked belt and collar, and occasionally a jacket. They always remain shirtless. Pyre sometimes attempts to diversify their look, interchanging their jackets of choice and accessories. They stand just one head taller than Jack.

Pyre was formed first through the passion between Fever and Sombre. Both Gems found the fusion to be a very special extension of themselves--one which empowered them and shifted the way they cope with tragedy and pain for the better. Pyre is quite the individual, standing far outside the gender binary and knowing exactly what they want. They certainly have a lot of ardency, with a fiery passion and outflow of emotion. If something is bothering them, they'll make it loud and clear. They can try to hold up an apathetic demeanor, but it easily crumbles when they're upset enough to cry or yell. They will resort to heavily smoking the volcanic ash in order to get through a tough emotional ordeal--which isn't a good habit, but it's surely an improvement.

The salty Gem has a way of putting behind all of which hinders them. Anything they cannot control is left alone, because they can't allow themselves to get their heart so tangled up in it all. This can make them appear as if they don't care, but it's quite the opposite. Without such control, they'd care an unhealthy amount too much about one single thing. Whatever baggage they bring into their lives will be entirely by choice. With an opened heart, it can be seen how much love they actually have to give. The fusion is a real cuddle bug and has a way of picking you up if you're unsure about your worth in this world. Through their components' love, they found self love and worth. They also found a little bit of an attitude as well.

From a social standpoint, Pyre is very defensive around Necro*, and very in-tune with Jack. With Necro, Pyre holds a unique position due to Fever's fear of her and Sombre's triumph over her. Pyre knows they don't fear Necro themself, rather they fear what she could do to their component Gems. They'll stand up to her even when she's threatening, and try to hit all the sour notes that upset her. Necro cannot stand their attitude, and after awhile she comes around to seeing them as their own individual self, rather than an extension of just Sombre. 

Pyre became a very special Gem for Jack. Both Fever and Sombre have strong platonic love for her, but their fusion goes a step further. Pyre can see Jack for who she truly is, and not just who she appears to be. Jack also has an unexpected attraction to them, easily melting into a puddle when around them. At first, Pyre tried to resist, unsure of how they would accept the dynamic. But the more they witnessed Jack opening up to them, the less worry they had in their mind. Learning about who she is deeper down was something they came to love and find joy in. There are times it's difficult to communicate, given both component Gems have to think of each other's interests. But overall, the two of them really take care of each other. Pyre insists that Jack deserves to feel like she can confide in them, and be snuggled too.

At the end of the day, Pyre just wants to be free. They want to be able to feel like they can have an array of emotions, and be strong in where they stand. As they go on joy rides on old vehicles across the barren landscape, they can finally be together with themselves. Nothing should ever hold them back.
