Ono Yoatobi's Links
He's absolutely a grandpa, and kind of a buzzkill with his whole attitude, but I GUESS he's okay. He's not a top gacha player like I am, but he can stay on my raiding team.
Ponzu sees Ono initially as a brat, a pain in the ass, and absolutely someone he doesn't want to babysiit -- oh, and, he's not a grandpa, darnit! However, as they traverse the Labyrinths, he grows to worry about his safety and, after Ono goes missing, decides that if anyone's going to keep an eye on the kid, it's him. Ono and him have a shared interest in Gacha games, for better or for worse -- and end up going to cafes and other small hang out spots during the game's in-game events.
He's kinda quiet and I hate the smell of smoke he gives off ALL THE TIME, but he's chill. Makes good coffee, makes good pastries and he entertains me! What more could you ask for from a barista, honestly!!
(Ono refers to him as Mirry usually.)
He's....not that bad. Mirry, huh? (Mirin doesn't say much, and while it appears that he'd be the sort to be annoyed with Ono, he only ever complains when he orders more pastries than what's in stock. Will listen to whatever he wants to talk about.)
Ono is interested by Claudé. He acts so aloof, he has to be hiding something right? He likes to rag on the man's Love Live addiction, but still watches the man play with interest. The kid really is curious about who he's looking for in the Chasms.
Ono is unsure of how he feels about Ivory. He knows the other cares about him, but he can't possibly figure out why. Every so often he tries to push Ivory away, but something breaks and he ends up getting help.
But what connection do this man and the masked "no eyes" man have?
For better or worse, Ivory interacts with Ono the same way they do with anyone trying to put a wall between themself and the people around them -- by being overly present and (quite possibly) unaware that the wall even exists until they've made a dent in it.
After recognizing the fact however (re: holiday session), they've quietly vowed to make sure that, should it somehow be indirectly caused by the chasms, they'll do whatever they can to amend it.
On a final note, Ono is the first person, perhaps by chance, to be aware of Ivory's connection to a certain masked person, as well as be a first hand witness to their *actual* powers -- fixing his mask with only a few words and placing their hands on the object in question.
On the outside, Ono definitely seems to use Pierce for his own gains, such as piggy-back rides while insulting him the entire time. But in actuality, he's confused about the care that Pierce shows and letting him get away with whatever he wants.. He tries to be rude and mean to get the person to leave him alone, but for some reason, it hasn't been working...
Pierce has a soft spot for the little shit Ono, and can tell that he lashes out cause he doesn't know how else to deal with affection or his problems. As such, Pierce lets Ono get away with a little more than he should, but he still draws a line if necessary. Two potty mouths in a pod.
Even though Ono is one of the first people Tide has met on their escapades into the Chasms, that hasn't made them any more fond of the kid. They're still miffed that the phone swiping didn't work out SOMEHOW. Also maybe miffed that Ono was part of the crew that came to kick their ass. They're not intimidated by Ono at all.
