When Cicero was 31 his parabatai died in a terrible fight, leaving Cicero scarred and pushed into a terrible depression. He still tried to do his shadowhunter duties, but he never seemed to put his all into it anymore, and just went through the motions. Until he found a little boy in the Shadow Market named Dominic and adopted him. Having someone else that had to rely on him really helped him push himself to try harder for both him and his son. Cicero adores Dominic and wants nothing more than to see Dominic happy and successful in his life.
They all live in the same institute now which Cicero is very happy about. Dominic and Cicero aren't as close as they used to be, but that's just because Dominic has grown up and become an adult. Cicero thinks that his son has grown into a fine young man (if a bit of a braggard), but he's sure Dominic's friends keep him humble.
