Conor Glasleigh (6 AGE - ) is the King of Glasleigh Kingdom (previously Light Kingdom). Prior to becoming King, he enjoyed a successful military career in New Atlantis.

Appearance

Conor has always been known as a handsome and attractive elf, whose muscular appearance belied his youth. Even as an 18-year-old guard, he was a tall and imposing figure, with fair hair and a neatly-trimmed moustache and beard. When on-duty, he wore a heavy, resilient uniform made out of moonstone and steel - but, otherwise, he usually wears brown leather trousers and a dark green jacket.

After retiring from military combat (and transitioning to an advisory role), Conor no longer wore a full suit of armour. Instead, he wore a gold-trimmed green shirt - on which he proudly displayed the dozen or so medals that he had earned during his years of active service. He'd also grown his hair a little longer - to the point where he needed to tie it into a small pony tail.

As King, Conor wore a similar outfit to the one he wore as Grand General. He kept the green shirt and the medals - but added a gold-coloured cloak, and an emerald-encrusted crown.

Personality

Despite his stature and physique, Conor has always been something of a 'gentle giant'. He has always paid attention to the poor and downtrodden, and donated his time, energy and money to help improve their lot in life. In particular, when others around him (such as Chris or Kyle) have been bullied, he has frequently been the one to step in and defend them.

His compassionate streak extends to the battlefield too. In his mind, an ideal military victory is one accomplished with minimal loss of life or limb on either side - and so, he prefers missions of stealth, which allow him to sneak behind enemy lines and sabotage the enemy without even being detected. However, this isn't to say that he's unwilling to confront the enemy head-on: in situations where this is the only option, he is a truly ferocious warrior, with physical strength and technique tgat few can hope to match.

Off the battlefield, however, Conor is not above the occasional joke or prank. He's occasionally played tricks on Nestor - and ended up spending nights in jail for it.

Relationships

Cheryl - Conor's wife, whom she met while she was on her travels to New Atlantis. Immediately, they fell in love with one another - and so, she decided to settle there permanently, and marry him. The two of them later moved to Glasleigh Castle, where they with their four children: Craig, Ashley, Lucy, and Connie. Previously, they also had an adopted son (Chris), and a pet ferret (Fidget).

Chris - The fake prince of Light Kingdom, who has been a companion of Conor's from an early age. As a five-year-old, he was frequently bullied and discriminated against by the other guards and servants there (for not being a real human) - and the 18-year-old Conor was his only true friend. Eventually, Conor and Cheryl adopted Chris as their son - although, sadly, he misbehaved at every possible opportunity, causing them no end of stress and anxiety. Later on, in his adult life, Chris became Conor's chief military adviser.

Lydia - Conor's Elvish cousin, who has lived at New Atlantis from a young age, after her father died and her mother was no longer able to take car of her. As one of the only elves living in a mostly-merfolk castle, she struggled to fit in at first: the merpeople generally respected Conor and Cheryl, but Lydia had sadly always been a target of bullying. Naturally, Conor felt a great deal of empathy for her, and he spent a great deal of time helping her overcome the chronic self-confidence issues that had grown out of a childhood dominated by loneliness and harassment.

Story

Conor was born in the year 6 AGE, at the traditional Elvish birthplace of Magnifloria. His family had lived in Light Castle for several generations: his father Craig was a general in the king's own army, while his mother Siobhan was the castle's most accomplished huntress. As a result, everybody expected that little Conor would follow in his parents' footsteps, and grow up serve in the military of Light Kingdom. For a while, this was indeed the case: he began his military training at age 12, and was a star performer in the academy for the next six years, until he graduated at age 18 and was enlisted as one of the castle guards.

However, Conor quickly grew disenchanted with life at Light Castle. He found many of the people there to be cruel and mean-spirited - especially towards Chris, the fake prince constructed on the orders of King Desmond. He tried his best to support Chris and be his friend - but this only led his fakist comrades to look down upon him, and assign him menial tasks to take care of Chris. He soon found that he was expected be Chris's full-time carer, in addition to his regular duties as a guard - and King Desmond offered him neither sympathy nor extra pay. As a result, he escaped with Chris, and spent all the money he had on a boat trip to New Atlantis. Unfortunately, it wasn't long before King Desmond caught up with the pair of them: he captured Chris and returned him to Light Castle, but he was willing to allow Conor to settle in New Atlantis.

Although surrounded by an entirely foreign species, Conor soon found himself more welcome in New Atlantis than he ever had done in Light Kingdom. Of course, his merfolk comrades teased and picked on him at first; however, he soon silenced them and earned their respect by demonstrating his prowess on the battlefield. Six years after moving to New Atlantis, he was promoted to Sergeant - and, five years after that, he was promoted to General. He was sufficiently skilled to lead missions of any kind - although, due to his dislike of spilling blood where it wasn't necessary, he had a preference for stealth missions. One of his highlights, for example, was a successful mission to Lennart Castle, to steal the Silver Oak leaves necessary to cure Nestor and Kyle from their de-aged state.

Despite his highly successful career, and his physical attractiveness, Conor had very little success with finding a romantic partner in his younger years. There were almost no other elves around; most women of other races showed no interest in him; and the few who did tended not to get very far with him. However, this all changed when a beautiful young Elvish woman named Cheryl arrived at New Atlantis - alongside Frederick and his old childhood companion Chris. The two elves were immediately smitten with one another - and, within days, they had forged a strong and loving relationship. Within a year, they had married, and moved into a small wooden treehouse, which Duke Nestor had had built specifically for them.

Shortly before their marriage, Chris's original body finally faded from existence - after an unusually long life of 16 years. He was saved from death by transferring his spirit to an old pony plushie, while Cassandra worked to build a new body for him. For reasons of cost, it was agreed that Chris's new body would be that of a five-year-old - and, Conor and Cheryl would adopt him as their child. Sadly, this arrangement worked out very poorly: Chris still considered himself to be sixteen, and he blamed Conor for placing him in a five-year-old's body. As a result, Chris refused to recognise Conor as his father - and he disobeyed his orders at every opportunity. This meant Conor had to develop a variety of techniques to punish Chris for his disobedience - the most extreme of which was to pull his fake head off and re-attach it backwards.

However, Chris would not be an only child for long. About a year after they married, Cheryl fell pregnant with Conor's first child. Since he would soon have a child of his own to take care of, Conor immediately retired from military combat to seek out a less dangerous line of work. Nestor understood completely - but he still valued Conor's input and experience on matters of warfare, and so, he appointed Conor as his chief military adviser.

Over the next few months, Conor rarely left the castle, since he had a new desk job to attend to, and a pregnant wife to take care of. However, as the baby's due date neared, he and Cheryl finally got a chance to leave New Atlantis - as they journeyed to Magnifloria, a land of powerful latent magic, where most elves (including both of them) had been born. This long-lasting tradition was continued - as it was here that Cheryl gave birth to their son, who was named Craig after Conor's father.

Over the next few years, Conor intends to spend most of his time in New Atlantis, raising and educating his new family, which eventually expanded to four children: Craig, Ashley, Lucy, and Connie. However, this all changed in 50 AGE, when King Desmond of Light Kingdom passed away without an heir. There was no agreement on who should rule - and, for a while, the kingdom teetered on the brink of civil war, as two cousins of Desmond assembled armies to stake their claims. Duchess Aliana was called in to mediate - and she duly informed both of them that Chris, Desmond's original intended heir, was still alive. Not wanting to fight the forces of New Atlantis, the two cousins vanished - and Chris was installed on the throne of Light Kingdom. However, he had no desire to rule - and after only a month, he nominated his mentor Conor as his successor. As a result, Conor moved to what was now "Glasleigh Kingdom", along with Cheryl and their four children. Their subjects were initially apprehensive about them - but they soon showed that they were capable of ruling a prosperous and successful kingdom. In particular, Conor took a zero-tolerance approach towards fakism - for which Chris (now Conor's main military adviser) was eternally grateful.

Trivia

Conor speaks four languages: New Boreal, Modern Archonian, Modern Lumic, and Novoatlantean.
