Pleasant / Generous / Self-Absorbed / Confident / Compelling

Richard is amiable, but stubborn, and he's not easily swayed from what he believes to be the best approach. He treats his friends well and generously, and is quick to praise. Despite this, he's anything but soft-hearted, and will not hold back in confrontation (physical or mental). He is competitive, and enjoys debates or banter.

Richard is used to finding a way for himself, but not used to being required to take care of other individuals (especially emotionally)- this can make him unreliable as a friend or family member (or anything aside from a figurehead or leader), despite his generosity. Even though he is generally charismatic and easily expresses affection, he is actually slow to develop attachment to others and he holds strangers in extremely low value-- his cynicism makes him distrust others. As a paternal figure, he is eager but also scared of failure, as his relationship with his own son is not the strongest.

He enjoys being known as a philanthropist, playing benefactor as suits his fancy- his ties to The Sanctified are no well kept secret, but for all the work he's put into rebuilding Saint City and for all the power that he's amassed, there aren't many people who would openly oppose him. His plans are only shared with trusted department heads and all other information is compartmentalized.

Boring Stuff

Attended Saint City University majoring in the study of Emergeants. This was much to his family's disapproval, but he also maintained studies in business and his future prediction allowed him an upper edge in making decisions for the family corporation. He met Min-Sook during his undergrad years and they grew close while studying together. They divorced twelve years later when a difference of opinion regarding ethics caused a rift (Min crossed the line in research in an attempt to help Richard pursue the knowledge he needed), and Min left to work for Apellon.

Life Event

Richard was plagued by visions of a future where the astral realm was corrupted in some vague manner. His pursuit of his studies was part of his attempt to learn more. Once assuming the responsibility of his family's company, he funneled his personal earnings towards investing in research of the astral realm and its related phenomenon.
