Shion is a very kind person who's always earnestly trying to be the best person he can be. Because of his timid nature he can sometimes come off as a little reserved and reluctant to speak out about his own thoughts and feelings, but if someone asks him to directly he'd have a difficult time refusing their request. Shion's a terrible liar and he always readily shows his emotions on his face. Even if he insists nothing is wrong his actions give himself away, though he can be surprisingly stubborn if he doesn't want to talk about something.
In sudden situations that require quick thinking Shion is often the person who will act before fully comprehending or thinking about his actions. He has very quick reflexes which have saved him in a fair number of situations, but once he's had time to realize what happened he'll often apologize for his sudden reaction. Shion also has a bit of a bad habit of speaking outloud when he doesn't mean to. It's often in a mumble while thinking that people usually don't catch, but every now and then those who have good hearing will pick up on it.
For as long as he could remember Shion grew up living with his grandparents. They were always very kind and ended up spoiling much more than they probably should have, but Shion always tried to repay them in various different ways (either by doing extra chores and making them gifts whenever he could). Shion's grandfather was well known locally for the little figurines he would make and sell (or occasionally give away to the children in the neighborhood) and to this day Shion still has a collection of them himself that he cherishes deeply. Shion's grandmother loved music and was able to play a wide variety of instruments. Although Shion never picked up on any instruments he did get his love of music and singing from his grandmother.
Ever since he was young Shion participated in a variety of clubs and programs that allowed him to express himself through singing. He participated in a fair number of choirs and though he was shy and often kept to himself it was no secret to people around that he could sing extremely well. Even so when people would ask him to sing out of the blue he would often get too self-conscious and sometimes just run away unsure of how to say no properly. Because of this he often had few friends growing up as socializing normally was difficult for him.
Wanting to get more confident and learn how to make friends Shion put himself out there and tried joining as many clubs and programs as he could. It was during a choir program that Shion was eventually scouted and offered the opportunity to be an idol, though he was very uncertain about this at first as it would require him to move away from home for the first time. His grandparents were encouraging, however, and told him if he was interested he might as well give it a shot. Shion decided to at least try out and see how it went and, to his surprise, he ended up making the cut along with three others. Shion would end up becoming the center of Solstice (another shock for him) and though he was uncertain of his abilities, he accepted the position.
One of the other members of solstice. Shion thought Touya would be the obvious choice for center, so when he was given it instead he believed that Touya was upset and jealous of him. This belief was reinforced when Touya was often much harsher on him than the other two. It ended up being a misunderstanding, however, and after they talked with each other over food one day it was cleared up. Touya ended up becoming a little softer after that.
Because of Makoto's mellow personality Shion often felt he was the easiest to get along with. Even so Shion could tell Makoto had a lot of things bothering him and, despite being ignored when he asked, Shion wanted to help Makoto in anyway he could. He decided it would be best for Makoto to go at his own pace, though, and simply offered to be there if he was ever needed.

Shion appreciates this and knows it's because Natsuki is likely overexaggerating his personality. Shion likes spending days on the beach with Natsuki, but he still prefers colder weather...
