Circe's Links
Star is Circe's guinea pig. Her lab rat. Or was, anyway.
Through her reign of terror upon fellow inkdrians, Circe grew cocky and confident, and Star was just the inkdrian to boost those feelings. Maybe it inadvertently lead to her defeat in the end, but that's... not the point. The point is Circe's respect for Star is less than zero. Quite frankly, she enjoys humiliating and hurting them. Every time she won over them, every time she killed and laughed and gloated in front of Star, she felt just a little bit more like a god. And it felt glorious - oh so glorious. Even nowadays, with Circe bitter and furious from her defeat and banishment, Star couldn't possibly muster up one ounce of fear in her. Circe originally planned on dominating the Inkdrians, making them fear her, and don't think for one second that she still doesn't want that. But back then, there were no specific targets.
...Now she has one.
Rationally, Stargazer knows that they are ten times more powerful than Circe, but the mention of her name unnerves them, makes them so scared. They try their best to ignore it and act brave, but Circe absolutely terrifies Star. She is capable of hurting them in ways that they'd rather never feel again, and Stargazer can't promise that they wouldn't just go catatonic if she were to hurt their friends. Star is so fucking scared, they don't know what to do when faced with Circe; they just stutter and stumble, shake and can barely even talk about her without remembering the fallen inks they failed to save.
Circe is a name that Star desperately wants to forget, but she keeps coming back to haunt them.
One of the very few people in the world Circe considers family. Admittedly, when Chandra had first summoned her, she'd been very temped to decimate him on the spot... but she'd decided he had his uses, and so here they are. Chandra is something akin to a son or student to Circe, and while she had expected more world domination talk, she was pleasantly surprised with more lessons and teaching. Circe doesn't exactly love him - frankly nobody knows if Circe's even *capable* of such a thing - but it's very close. He's an annoying kid, but a good kid nonetheless (no matter how much he insists he's not). If Circe smiles or laughs nonmaliciously or acts anything close to a regular inkdrian, it probably has to do with her stupid son.
Yeah, the mother-son thing is in full swing here. Even before he'd summoned her, Chandra had been in awe of Circe. From what he knew, anyway, which to be fair wasn't very much. A lot of people had forgotten about Circe, but all he knew is that the Gray Witch was an inkdrian incredibly powerful with dark magic, thrown into the Underworld for some reason or another. Naturally, it was perfectly logical to summon them. While he'd hoped Circe would teach him, he didn't expect to end up being such good friends with her. He ended up caring a lot more about Circe then he thought he would, and they often chat about magic and summonings together. (Though he does know she's a murderer, which is why he keeps her away from Aether, he isn't aware of her true megalomaniacal personality and lust for power. He's trying his best, tbh.)
.........Circe may be a heartless witch, but even heartless witches succumb to cute things. It's impossible to hate or even dislike Aether, really. Although they're the reason Chandra mainly kicks her out of the house, she can tell that their bond with Chandra is pretty important. Good. Chandra needs something to do besides dark magic - that's her job. But she likes the artificial kid, and is completely shocked that artificial kids are even real, to be honest. Circe doesn't interact much with Aether, for a multitude of reasons, but she likes them a fair bit anyway.
Right! That's Chan-Chan's friend!! The really cool floaty lady! She can make these magic purple shapes and all that, like Chan-Chan does. She's not around all that often, but Aether thinks she's really neat!! Chandra told them that some people don't really think she's all that nice, but Aether doesn't get that at all. She's very tall and cool, like Chandra is! Too bad Aether doesn't get to see her all that often..
A pitifully insignificant thing. Her name slips Circe's mind more often than not, that is, when Circe even bothers to remember that she exists at all. Azlyn is the one who got away, but frankly considering the huge amount of other Stargazer shrines that Circe had destroyed, it hardly bothered her. And she has more important things to do now. Azlyn makes Circe laugh if she thinks about it for long enough; the fact that she's probably so furious, so angry, when really she means almost nothing at all. Even to Circe, it's a bit sad.... but that won't stop her from chuckling at it. Maybe one day she'll poke the figurative bear with her figurative stick and watch Stargazer wail over it, but until then, Azlyn occupies close to none of her thoughts.
Azzy hates Circe will all of her being. Though she is a pacifist, she would not hesitate to hurt Circe for killing her friends, and hurting Stargazer irreparably. Or, she wishes she could. Though her anger is strong, her fear is stronger, and while she talks a big game, there is a good chance she would run and hide if she ever saw Circe. She hates her. She hates her so much and she wishes she was stronger- she's one of the last few who remember Circe, who were around for her killing spree and even to remember it strikes fear into her heart. She's terrified of Circe, but she's angry.
She just... never wants to meet her.
Her shrine is no longer, but she still fears The Gray Witch.
While good at faking aloofness, Circe is easily as codependent towards Ezekiel as he was to her; the quiet but obvious fear and doubt-free obedience was something Circe had never experienced before, and she grew attached to the poor thing that she had freed. She doesn't think about him every day, but sometimes in quiet moments, she is hit with sad nostalgia for Ezekiel. When in power, she had to always be around Ezekiel, to remind her of the strength her side held -- he was perhaps the closest thing Circe had ever had towards a friend, and she misses him.
...He's ridiculously overprotective of Circe. Realistically, he doesn't need to be, and Circe is far stronger than he, but that doesn't stop him. Circe means a great deal to him - some sort of god or sibling greatly above him. All he's certain of is he'd die for Circe and her ideals. Zeke is proud to call himself Circe's most dedicated follower and is attached to very few else, staying with her stolen shrine and quietly awaiting her returning. He had been scared, even terrified of Circe when they first met, but now he mourns her banishment as a loss of a close friend.
The name Shyla doesn't ring any bells. But when told she's a Stargazer Maiden, Circe will fake remembrance with an "aah!" and carefully say she hopes she's suffering, wherever the hell she is.
Poor pathetic Lethe. She was a smart Third in command, with a quick wit and an eye for what the Stargazer Maidens would do. She seemed happy. Alas, Circe knew better than to trust a former Maiden so wholly. Now she's scattered, run away, betrayed the cause she had never really even fought for. At least Circe can remember her name enough to smile when she eventually dies.
It hurts, it hurts, it hurts -- she just wanted to be free, to be happy, but the gray witch's cunning smile never leaves. Never, never. Zeke was right -- Zeke is always right -- she'll die alone and friendless at the hands of the gray witch and it will hurt, it will hurt, it will hurt.
With all her being, with as much fury as she despises Stargazer does Circe despise Elatha -- she hates him, and the way people fear him, and the way his presence inspires nothing but terror. She hates him in being everything that she wasn't, could never be, maybe, but she couldn't bring herself to kill him. If he complimented her just once -- then maybe Circe'd feel better watching him die.
Circe was a funny thing. Appearing in his garden, demanding a place to stay, trying to kill him and failing every other day. He named her, too, not really expecting her to keep it. She sure has grown a lot since the days of cowering, white-haired white-marked Circe. He likes watching her antics, but never says anything, only smiles at her.
