Xerzaephes (Human)

I’d follow you again, and every time after if I had to, until the ends of the earth. You know that.

Xerzaephes is the former goddess of death. As a goddess, he lived with the guardian of the pantheon, Lanea, and their four fellow deities. However, when they were still young for a divine being, Xerzae gave up on their divinity and immortality to follow their beloved, Reyne, into the mortal world; the two have lived together there ever since. They have had a happy, fulfilling life, and though Xerzae often misses their godly existence, she would never trade her time with Reyne for anything. However, that does not mean they are entirely devoid of guilt or regrets. After finding out about their guardian’s death, and the destruction of the pantheon, Xerzaephes has been torn up with self blame, especially in regards to their brother Theo’s misery. They’re also aware that Reyne is deeply hurt and hating himself, which is extremely painful. Xerzaephes has been doing their best to help wherever they can, and they are close with Nyaomi and Ruii as a result. He just wishes Reyne could once again open his heart to the pantheon they were born into.

Xerzaephes is in many ways the complete opposite of Reyne when it comes to their personalities. Unlike their much more reserved and aloof partner, Xerzae is always willing to talk or hang out, and loves the presence of other people. Funny, intelligent, and charismatic, they have little trouble fitting in, and are well-liked. However, what they do have in common with Reyne is their reluctance to form a great number of emotionally close bonds. Xerzaephes has plenty of casual friends, but they save their true intimacy and openness for Reyne; most others are kept at arm's length, with the exception of their friends Nyaomi and Ruii. It’s not that Xerzae dislikes people-they just prefer to have a small group of truly trusted loved ones. They’re more serious than they let on, too, though nowhere near the level their partner is at. For example: she takes death and violence very seriously, and will only shed blood for the sake of self-defense. They lack ruthlessness; a charismatic approach is Xerzae’s way, and they hate the thought of taking lives. Whether it’s a result of their time as the god of death, or a mortal feeling, the result is the same.
