Mastheo (Human)

"There was never any going back after that… the second you left, it was over. And I had to watch it all die."

A long time ago, five newborn goddesses were taken under the wing of their divine guardian, Lanea-the center of what would become the Syllionic pantheon. She raised the children, guiding them as they grew into their true forms as deities; Theo was one of the five, and loved his home in the astral plane. He was always closest to Ruii-the two were inseparable-but clinged to his guardian in the same way a human child might cling to a parent. Theo believed they would never be separated; he was proven wrong when one of their own abandoned the pantheon. Reyne had always been the quietest among them, and never seemed happy, but no one anticipated that he would throw away his divinity in favor of the material plane. Xerzaephes followed after, which was far less of a shock, but the damage was done. The pantheon was broken, and though the decline was slow, it dragged itself along inevitably. Theo could do nothing to fix it. And when they finally lost Lanea, something in him broke as well. Her death scarred him worse than losing his goddesshood ever could.

Theo never really adapted to life in the material plane. He missed the astral plane and the pantheon more than words could ever describe, and hated being mortal. He despised his human body. More than anything else, however, he despised the ones he saw as being the reason for everything going wrong: Xerzaephes and Reyne. They left the rest of them to suffer for selfish reasons, at least in Theo’s mind. They’d once been fellow goddesses and friends, but now? Now, Theo saw them as his enemies. No matter how much Ruii has tried to convince him to try and reach out, he refuses to. He has spent his years in the material plane this way; wallowing in bitterness, unable to heal or attempt to start a new life in full.
