Likes: Video games, anime (his favorite is called Space Cats), getting praised, money, card games, Pop Star Sherby, and competitive fights.

Dislikes: Large bodies of water (he's aquaphobic), being called short or cute,  arrogant people, loud people, and any use of chaos powers.

Personality: Lightning is a bit of a tsundere when it comes to his true feelings regarding people. He doesn't like most people he meets and often makes a lot of enemies. In truth, Lightning finds it difficult to understand others, which often leads to misunderstandings. Despite this, Lightning is a reliable friend 90% of the time and will look out for others, even if he doesn't admit it. However, Lightning is known to be extremely  jealous of others, often letting envy take over his thoughts. He's occasionally a bit of a smart aleck. Lightning is known to have a bit of a bad temper, and is very easy to make angry.

He's also known to occasionally be energetic, usually if something he's passionate about is brought up. At other times, he's very low energy and somewhat grumpy. Some of the characters refer to these two sides being "charged Lightning" and "low battery Lightning".

Home: Animal Planet: Miniman Town

History: Lightning lived in an orphanage with his older siblings Sparky and  Thunder for as long as he could remember. However, he often doubted that they ended up there under normal circumstances and has often suspected his brother Thunder of being the reason they're there. Lightning had grown tried of Thunder trying to get him and Sparky to use their chaos  powers, and one day decided to run away from the orphanage into the unknown. It's then that he ran into Sketches and teamed up to save Swirly. The three became quick friends, and Lightning began living with Sketches much to Light's chagrin. Sketches and Lightning later reunite with Swirly, and form Team Aqua to fight SAC (Shadow Animal Corporation) and the other villains.

Current-Bio: Lightning goes to school  and often hangs out with Sketches and friends, but also joins Swirly on missions to defeat villains and find the mysterious Ameritis Crystals.  He's rarely seen without Sketches by his side and the two often  adventure together, but they occasionally go places without each other as their friend group expands. Lightning is known to spend his free time watching anime or playing video games when he's not practicing his fighting skills. He slowly gets better at understanding others, but is still prone to misunderstandings.

Meta-History: Lightning was created around the same time as Sketches. He and all of the other chaos puffs were inspired and based on the Chao in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, although their species was referred to as "Eggies" until sometime in the 2010's. Unlike Sketches, I'm not sure which Chao Lightning was based on (if any). However, it's undeniable that Lightning was heavily inspired by Pikachu from Pokemon (especially the tail). His original design had green wings that he couldn't use and a yellow-green halo, but he otherwise he's changed much over the years design-wise. His backstory has also changed a bit over the years, as he was originally unable to talk for the first chunk of the story. One day I decided this was stupid and decided that Lightning should be able to talk just like the others (thanks Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team for helping me make that decision!). However, it's always been consistent in his backstory that he's not related to Sketches and that he has siblings, but the number of siblings has changed (at one time he was going to have three younger siblings named Volt, Jolt, and Bolt but Bolt Bolt is a dumb name and I think it's better if Lightning is the youngest). In one of the original backstories, he and the other chaos puffs were students of Swirly's that went looking for her after she went missing.

Relationships with Other Characters:

Swirly: Lightning and Swirly are good friends. They are known to challenge each other to competitive races once and awhile.

Sketches: Lightning and Sketches are best friends and are rarely seen without each other. Sketches is one of the few people Lightning is consistently nice to, and he cares more about what Sketches thinks than anybody else.

Eggy: Lightning and Eggy are known to clash and get irritated with each  other. However, Lightning does look out for Eggy despite this.

Light: Lightning and Light are known to get on each other's nerves daily, much to Sketches' annoyance. Lightning sees Light as being an annoying teenage girl, and Light sees Lightning as being a bratty child. However, the two do eventually learn to somewhat get along, and they learn they both enjoy video games and anime. Eventually they become more like adoptive siblings, but it takes awhile to get to that.

Dark: Lightning gets along with Dark pretty well despite the latter being mute.

Sparky: Lightning generally gets along with his sister. Lightning wishes that  Sparky had run away with him at the beginning of the story, and is happy when he finally does.

Thunder: Lightning does not get along with his brother and his obsession with their chaos element powers. Lightning ran away from the orphanage to get away from Thunder, but it doesn't take long for the latter to find him.

Sakai: Lightning is distrustful of Sakai at first, but slowly begins to trust her as the story progresses. He is, however, annoyed that Sakai always  seems to magically appear behind him, scaring him every time.

Kitty: Despite occasionally annoying each other, Lightning and Kitty are good friends. The two occasionally try to collaborate on their own comic/animated series with Sketches pointing out the obvious flaws.

Racket: Lightning and Racket are friends, but sometimes Lightning is throw off by Racket's weird theories.

Colors:  Lightning and Colors are friends, supposedly. Lightning is more often shown to be annoyed with Colors than he is being friendly, but the two hang out anyways.

Manx: Lightning and Manx are friends. However, Lightning does occasionally get annoyed by Manx after she begins questioning all of the weirdness around her.

Veronica: Lightning and Veronica clash a lot due to the latter's jerkish personality. Lightning often wonders why Veronica is always hanging out around them.

Trixa: Lightning and Trixa are friends.

Tress: Lightning and Tress have a strange rivalry.

Chad: Lightning is not impressed by Chad's ninja obsession and knows he just binge watched Naruto.

Jade: Jade starts off as Lightning's enemy. After the first story arc, Jade  slowly goes from being an enemy, to a rival, and later a friend. Lightning is often annoyed by her trolling and doesn't completely trust her.

Striga: Lightning is really good at making Striga angry (which is pretty easy to do) and is often afraid of her.

Melody: Lightning is friends with Melody and enjoys his songs.

Mushroom: Lightning and Mushroom don't always get along due to Lightning not wanting to listen to Mushroom's precautions.

Telepathy: Lightning and Telepathy are friends. Lightning wants to help her get stronger.

Sakura: Lightning and Sakura become friends quickly due to their shared love of anime.

Shine: While Lightning does get annoyed by Shine's air-headed personality the two are good friends.

Luna: Lightning and Luna are good friends.

Latin: Lightning is friends with Latin.

Flutter: Lightning generally clashes with Flutter, finding him to be stuck-up.

Emperor Dark: Lightning is very suspicious of Emperor Dark due to him being involved in Swirly's amnesia and initial capture. However, this changes with the plot.

Shadow-Cat: Lightning dislikes Shadow-Cat greatly and will attack him on sight.

Maple: Lightning is close friends with Maple, being one of the few people he shares interests with.
