Anna Lovett's Links
Eugène is her son. While Annie initially conceived Eugène to engage in cisheteronormativity, she grew to love her son dearly and has always supported him and his choices. Annie sometimes struggles to connect with him and unknowingly modeled many of Eugène's maladaptive coping mechanisms for him, thanks to her trauma, but she isn't content to let these things dictate her worldview or her relationship with her son. Despite her past mistakes, the two have always shared a sense of unspoken recognition of themselves in each other, which has aided in deepening their bond and continues to motivate them to work things out.
Annie is his mom. Once a semi-distant figure in his childhood due to her work, Annie became more available in his teens when she started working from home. Due to this unstable attachment and Annie's maladaptive coping mechanisms, Eugène loves his mother but often struggles to discern how much he truly means to her. He went out of his way to avoid inconveniencing her growing up until recently, but is still prone to assuming the worst of himself and his thoughts and keeping 'out of the way', even as their relationship is currently on the mend. He trusts his mom a lot due to how supportive she's been with his identity, which continues to deepen as the two open up more with each other.
