Varic’s clan is part of & allied with a Myconid colony, housed within an old temple ruin in the underdark. The deity or deities this temple was dedicated to is unknown to them (but can be flexible depending on whether the DM wants to make it story/quest relevant or not).
These firbolgs brought a sapling with them, when they were first chased into the underdark, which has been cared for collectively by them & the Myconid. Sapling is the last of its kind, housing rare essences of necrotic magic. (Working name is “Deathwood,” though I’ll eventually come up with something better-) This strain is used in the clan’s “re-death” rituals, where they return an undead’s soul to its rightful resting place.
Firbolg’s section of the underdark is a pocket of lush forest, hidden away within the heart of the Myconid circle. Think Redwoods, but underground.
Clan also cares for & offers shelter to all undead, as well as various immortal-undead beings - such as vampires.
- For flavor, my headcanon Firbolgs resemble TotK Zonai, but more bovine-esk, with semi-long tails. Fuck it, my city now.
- For in-game flavor, his chain-blade improves with level ups, rather than getting switched out for a different but stronger weapon. (i.e, gaining the ability to have more range; not as distanced as a bow, but still enough that Varic doesn’t have to be constantly in the fray.)
