Nine

A "failed" clone of Livia Blackwell, heavily modified and augmented into a living weapon without long to live.

Nine now exists only to hunt down Livia's other living clone, Liz, and reclaim the precious neural lattice grown into her body. She has never known anything but her purpose as a weapon, but her natural curiosity began eroding her purpose-built nature almost as soon as she was cut loose.

Nine currently travels with Godfrey Blackwell, who is trying very hard not to see her as his daughter.

Nine, like Liz and Livia before her, is tall, rail thin, and has slick black hair. She has an unhealthy complexion and a tendency to nosebleeds as her body slowly degrades.

Nine wears a black bodysuit with a texture like thick rubbery skin, and a slightly oily sheen. The suit is part biological and acts as a protective barrier, quick injury repair, and part of her immune and circulatory systems. She would die quickly without it.

Nine also wears a rotating selection of tropical button-up shirts, preferably with flamingos. She has never explained this preference.

Nine is very quiet and emotes very little, but in actuality is quite alert and taking in everything around her. Her silence and few words lead many to think she's robotic or simply inattentive. She is highly curious and in general a sponge for information from any souce. She has been known to surprise Godfrey by asking a very pointed question about something that happened days ago that he assumed she had not noticed or understood.

Nine shoves her emotions down and out of sight, to herself as much as to others. She would prefer not to deal with them, and for now she feels it best that everyone assume she is cold and emotionless.

Nine was born in a vat at the same time as Liz, and as her name indicates, was one of several. She and her runaway sister were the only survivors, but Nine herself was imperfect and born already falling apart. Her skin and bones were fragile and her organs began failing almost immediately, so the Blackwell scientists left her in the pod until a use could be found for her.

When the other clone, Liz, discovered her true nature and fled, a now adult Nine was pulled from her pod and crammed full of experimental combat and medical augmentations. These, in combination with decades of memory-scrubbed combat expertise and survival knowledge would ensure she could not only survive on her own, but be very capable in a fight. She never had a chance to learn more than rudimentary communication skills, because those didn't matter for her purpose.

As well as catching or killing Liz, Nine is to serve as a transport host for the delicate biotech neural lattice currently occupying Liz's body and nervous system. It represents over a decade of imprinting on Liz in preparation for the transfer of Livia's consciousness, and would die quickly without a compatible host.
