Heart looked his old colleague up and down, memorizing Connla’s new appearance. “Maybe I should be asking what the fuck happened to you.” Heart pulled up the extra chair that was in the room, turning it the be oriented away from Connla so he could sit backwards on it. “Alright, fill me in…where’ve you been?” Heart puts on a friendly act, as if they both don’t know what’s about to happen, but his eyes lack any warmth at all.
Finally, Connla brings his eyes to meet the other man’s; dark, fearful blue meeting cold aqua. “Don’t pretend you’re even interested,” His good wing tightens the best it can against his back, in a recognizably self soothing way. “I was never supposed to be found.”
