I do want to ask, as I have been thinking, how would the weapon specifically work if you had anything in mind, it reminds me a lot of a butterfly knife by it just flipping out, but how would the staff be explained? (Also generally, considering it has a blade in the middle, is there a specific weapon type it would be that I could look into for usage?)

The staff mode would probably be more for the show than for function :,D
I made a super crude thingy how the sword can be switched to a staff (the blade part slides into the grip). Maybe the middle part is not a blade but metal. Then it can be used like a regular staff.
