I'm sorry to be venting about this but what the hell is happening rn online???
I'm seeing so many posts about teens and young adults being at risk of becoming homeless or already on the streets desperately needing money to make it. What!! The fuck!! Is going on!!!! Like I'm talking so many bulletins on Toyhouse this week ALONE but also like, on Tumblr! Is something happening in the USA or something? Or is all of this like, a mad tragic coincidence?? It's literally breaking my heart seeing 16/17 year olds worry about money and a home, like,, wtf are we doing right now?? I can't recall EVER seeing so many people online pleading for help...

My heart goes out to everyone going through troubling times...
If you know someone in need, you can always DM me about it or tell them to hit me up. I'll be glad to draw them a design to sell! I can't put into words how distraught I am to see this happen to folk on here. Especially with folk younger than me. I just can't wrap my head around it...

I feel like I'm the least qualified person to talk about this, since I'm white enough to blind myself in the sun,,, but it needs to be said, because I constantly seem to stumble upon it.

Why is it not a good idea to make black coloured huggy wuggy OCs?
Because of huggy wuggy's design features, a black coloured huggy wuggy OC will very closely resemble a type of doll made back in the day, which was a racist stereotype of black people.
The big red lips are the main contributor to this, but the eyes and fluffy head also add to the whole picture.

In the spoiler below I'll include comparison pictures and the name of the racist doll, which I'm only showing for educational purposes! so massive trigger warning for racism!

The doll black huggy wuggies resemble are called Golliwog dolls, and you can read more about them on this wiki article.

The last drop of making this post was actually seeing a couple of those black coloured huggy wuggy plushies at the market today outside. Like, we can't just DO that again in 2022. And I say last drop because this isn't the first time I've seen a black coloured huggy wuggy before. I've seen adopts and personal ocs just like this and like, I figured those were just... the odd ones out! Uninformed kids who simply didn't know any better and who didn't deserve to be on blast for plain kid ignorance, y'know? But if they're being sold at the MARKET of all places, I need to draw a line! I feel like we ALL need to draw a line! We need to be able to talk about these design choices and establish what is and isn't ok! I don't hate huggy wuggy as a character, but we just... need to be able to talk about it. Because this just ain't right, man... I'm seeing no one talk about this and it's like, well what WILL we allow, y'know? "surely it wasn't intended to resemble these dolls", that's not the point. These dolls have a HISTORY. A painful history of slavery, sexualisation, and other important words my tiny clown brain just isn't!!! qualified enough for to talk about!! It's not about the intent!

Blegh... Just, please keep in mind... The Poppy Playtime fandom is full of kids and young teens, and we all know the educational system doesn't really emphasise how BAD racism against black people really was and still is. If you see a minor with one of these characters, please try to inform them kindly if you can. Kids make stupid mistakes. like, REALLY really stupid mistakes. And I feel like in the long run it's better to inform rather than to harass, you feel me?
But I'm in no position to tell you how you should feel or act must you find something like this! like, FORREAL... I just don't condone harassing kids @o@"

Anyways, it's my birthday now! (June 21st!)
I usually don't feel too compelled to even mention it, I mean, I'm not even going to celebrate this year.
But I'm feeling especially nervous about being 23 now and idk, talking about it helps!

I also want to set some personal goals for next year so I have something to work towards!
I want to return to using my smooth brush (as seen here) for some art pieces, because I feel like this textured brush has made me kind of lazy with anatomy, dynamic lineart and clothing folds!
I feel like sometimes returning to the smooth brush will spice up the detail in my pieces again.
 
I want to develop my other universes/stories more.
Auterhol is already plenty developed and really is such a big passion project of mine, which currently has me feeling like I couldn't ever publish it as a story and accept cold hard criticism on.
This might still change in the future, but right now I couldn't possibly think of it!
I do still want to publish a story someday for people to enjoy, and I've got plenty of inspiration for my stories to develop them more and hopefully, reach that level of polish!

And lastly I want to work on my wellbeing.
I won't go into too much detail because these past few bulletins have been nothing but negative... but it's just a fact that I've been struggling and barely hanging in there for a year now,
with really high ups and really low downs.
I'm not going to let that happen next year and I'll make sure I have enough to look forward to in the meantime, like fun activities, series I've been meaning to watch and not waiting for other people's opinions on what I should and cannot do! I've finally got an unisex bathing suit, so I can finally go swimming again! I've really been digging poolroom backroom images again lately and I'm aching to feel those tiles on my skin again!

I'm not quite sure where it's coming from, but I'm stuck with my creations. Both with existing stories/universes and the ones I wish to develop in the future. I just can't seem to figure out why <:oS
I've been stuck before! I couldn't get a grasp on Shun's design for the life of me... And I've felt this low before too! That is when I made my main gang! So why is it suddenly so hard to create something new? 

I remember when I first pulled together my main gang, because they weren't made on the same day... or even with the same universe in mind! Donut was made first and from a world almost identical to mlp:fim, but with dog creatures like her. Then I separately made Pip when I wanted to make an elf that looks less "perfect". Like, no straight, blonde hair, freckles, quirky... And it was only when I made Lucas in class with the intent of "drawing a friendly zombie" that I made his brothers, Lance and Liam. And then I made Nameless during a holiday and decided, screw it! And put them all in the same universe. It wasn't really a thought-through decision or anything. I just wanted to challenge myself and see if I could make it make sense. I mean, I guess I succeeded! 8 years later and I've got a whole universe with ecosystems and stuff!
I just wish I could give that same energy to another story or universe somehow...

Like my clown universe! I've been stuck on clown anatomy for 2 years next Thursday! :o(
Or poor Mollia and Tobu... I'm not even sure about their ethnicity anymore!

Zoinks... Don't even get me started on the plans of ANOTHER new universe

I suppose I could just use some advice right now... Or some words of encouragement?
Have you gone through this as well? If so, how did you get out of that? Do you have any helpful resources?
