Your kindness has spoken volumes throughout these past few days and lifted my spirit immensely! Unfortunately, these characters are no longer on sale for vet related reasons, as you can read here... They'll still be open to adopt, but the money won't go to vet bills anymore, as my cat is not getting better. Thank you for all the support you've given me these past few days. I'll keep this experience close to my heart these upcoming weeks.

I'm not exactly sure how to ease into the topic, so I guess I'll just give it straight as it is.
My cat fell ill 2 months ago and hasn't improved since, so we're expecting to get him checked out by a more specialised vet soon.
We're currently waiting for lab results trying to find a rare virus (as advised by our current vet),, but both my mum and I doubt anything will come from that.

He's comfortable most days, luckily. He's just not improving and immediately going downhill if we stop using what the vet gave us (laxatives and painkillers)...

the bill we're expecting could be between 0 and 1000 euros depending on what they find, from what I understand, so that's why the prices for these adopts appear a bit higher than I usually price them.
We can afford the worst right now but it'll be a pretty hard blow yk, and that mixed with the pricey food and meds we have to give him... it just becomes a lot.

Sorry for maybe sounding so cold by stating the facts or anything,,, It's been such an emotional rollercoaster, I don't want to put the whole emotional baggage on you guys and frankly anything other than the facts gets me really emotional, since Eros is my baby boy

So today I woke up to a message from a friend, telling me about a Tumblr post about my content warning icons that was in bad faith.
I figured it wouldn't be so bad, since I've had someone else say they didn't like them and there's nothing wrong with holding that opinion. Art is just subjective like that! But this post, and the many many replies it got, are both uninformed, accidentally misleading and mean spirited towards both me as the creator and everyone who uses them... I wouldn't have paid it too much mind if it was just a couple of folks, but this post is currently sitting at 6000+ notes   which is a bit daunting I'm ngl!! 

Usually in situations like this I drop in and explain myself and my work and it ends in a pleasant interaction, but with the comments this post has gotten I'm honestly not sure how well received a response directly to the post would be! with responds like "things that should install malware into the user's computer the moment they download the files for this shit". My friend advised me to not directly respond to it either but IDK it really bothers me how a lot of the replies are seeing these icons for the first time and think they're made as "aesthetic trigger warnings", which they are not...

So like, I think it's best to answer some of these comments here and post a link to it on the character profile's comments, and later figure out how I'm going to approach the beast on Tumblr

  First things first, These are not called Trigger Warning Icons. These are Content Warning Icons and they are not a new concept. These icons were inspired mostly by the content warning icons of Kijkwijzer.nl, These icons are used on the box art of DVDs and before the movie itself starts, so you know the movie itself is suited for a certain age and what's featured in the movie!It might seem like a small bit of trivia but I feel it's an important difference to make, seeing as the icons I made are not just to prevent triggering topics, but also to prevent uncomfortable topics in general that aren't necessarily triggering to someone. To be able to look at a warning page and quickly realise that character might not be for you, regardless of whether you're triggered by the content, squicked out by it or not affected by it at all.

  Me! It helps me! I have ADHD and when I first made these, the majority of TH warnings was introduction pages, DNI lists and Blacklists (there are still a lot but fewer ones). and then if you're lucky somewhere within this wall of text are content warnings. Even lists are hard for me to read through and fully understand what I've just read. Because of this I've clicked on character profiles and seen things I'd rather not see. I didn't want people to be taken aback by my profile like that so I designed these icons for myself. Then as I made them, I realised some other people might want to use these too, so I put them up as F2U. And here we are now, with more icons added by request and others redesigned thanks to feedback. The content warning profile used to state I made these to make page warnings accessible for myself, but I decided to iron out the description a bit more with a fancy new code as it got more faves, making it look a bit more clean.
  
  So in Short, It is an accessibility feature for people who rely on imagery rather than text, such as ppl with ADHD, Dyslexia and more.
  
  
• "#filters can't read pictures" "#i hate these bc if the text is apart of the graphic then my FUCKING SCREEN READER CANT READ IT #thanks! ur warning is useless!"
  The text is pure HTML and should be readable for screen readers.

  These were not made for the aesthetics, these were made to make warnings more accessible to people who rely more on visuals than reading. I drew them this way because I like it when icons are colourful instead of monochrome or only using 1 key colour, which is what I never personally liked about Kijkwijzer's icons. They always used to look really intimidating and scary to me, and for these icons I wanted to make something that's anything but that. Through this though it seems some people find the icons infantizing and degrading, and for that I'm sorry. That was never my intent.

  Hasn't been this way since I released the icons publicly and got feedback on the designs, which was almost two years ago. Feedback is always welcome btw, since I don't know what is and isn't triggering as well as a person who's uncomfortable with said content does.

  I've been open to redesigning this symbol before and I'm happy to do it again! Though I'd appreciate some feedback because I currently am struggling to think of other ways to design this icon :oS

  This is by far the saddest comment I've read on this post, because it's exactly the opposite of what I'd hoped would happen with my icons becoming more well-known :o( I'm sorry it's made TH more inaccessible to you as a whole...

  And this is by far the comment that's made the most upset, someone feeling bullied into changing their warnings because of this post. I'm really sorry this post made you feel ashamed to use your warning page like this... At the end of the day it should always be your choice to decide how you present your warning pages because it's YOUR profile. Like how people aren't forced to use these icons. Really frustrated this post made you feel this way not bc it's about my icons, but in general I am of the strong belief that no one ever should make you feel bad for doing something harmless...

Blegh, in a way I also feel like I should reply to the post in some way, even if originally in bad faith. Because you all know me and a lot of you have even seen these icons be born! Y'all understand the context, but the people in those comments don't and there really is no feeling more frustrating than someone running away with the wrong idea

I realised I've never really stated this anywhere before, so now is as good a time as ever!

If I've ever adopted a character of yours during emergency sales, but you still feel pretty connected to the character, you can always DM me and ask for them back!
I don't want any money back when you ask dw, I just wanted to help out in the moment. And like, I can understand in such a situation you might be forced to put characters up for sale out of necessity while still feeling connected to them. My OCs mean the world to me too and I would never wish to keep a character from you when you really miss them!  

so please don't feel too intimidated or scared to ask!

I wanted to share my Dan VS fanart here because I've really been digging the show and drawing a lot of stuff related to it, but I never get to share it here because they're not OCs lol

I just love that tiny angry guy so much. I want to get him to therapy and see him get better. I want him to thrive   (he never will). The voice acting doesn't just carry this character, it makes him fucking SOAR! The way they get around swear words due to censorship by just having him speak in such a dramatic and odd manner always gets me in tears. He can't call people a bitch so they opt to him calling people wenches instead  I also just love how passionate the storyboard artists were about his mannerisms and how, despite puppet animation being rather stiff most of the time, the animators did their best to still give him those little movements.

The plot of Dan VS is literally all over the place sometimes but goodness, Dan's whole character carries you through all of it. I also just love Elise, a person I don't see enough people hype up!! She's Chris's (Dan's best friend) partner and she's so involved in the story and has so much going for her, being a secret agent for some shady government organisation. I love how she doesn't like Dan and wishes Chris had better friends, but still occasionally helps him. I love how she can be really sweet but also morally grey and super competitive. I love how she's really intelligent and a force to be reckoned with, but chose to marry a nerdy pushover who only thinks about food... just AAAAAAAAAA I love them.

In my last bulletin I talked about how I feel very strongly against AI art and art theft of any kind. And then someone commented and said they're ok with art theft??? and they HAVE a stolen character on their profile???
(if you go looking for their username, please don't send harassment and just block them.)

So I'd just like to be clear and say, if you feel it's ok to take/steal someone's character(s) for any reason whatsoever, or feel it's ok to do so if you redesign them slightly, please don't interact with my profile :'o(

My characters are very personal to me and if I find out any of them have been stolen or slightly redesigned, I can't promise I'll react kindly. They are literally my world and I interact with the world myself through these characters.
I'm still fine with people getting inspired by my work... but the art community as a whole has me so tense lately because of all the normalisation of theft, please make sure you're not taking HEAVY inspiration yk?

I think it's fair to say I'm not the only one who hates AI art. Every time I hear about it, it makes me sad :o( I don't want my art to be fed to these machines and I don't want to be confronted by it in general.

But I don't see a lot of people against "stealing" AI art, and that kind of disturbs me! And I'm mainly talking about stuff like this:

I've seen this take on it before, but I'm seeing it more and more often. It makes me sad!! It makes me feel like everyone is at all times waiting to pounce at a mildly interesting character if it's deemed socially acceptable to do so!

If I had my art put into an AI machine, had someone generate adopts from that machine and then have someone TAKE that adopt and proudly proclaim them as their own. I'D STILL FEEL USED! you would STILL be stealing an artist's work, and even worse, there wouldn't be a single credit or reference to the artist(s) who had their work warped like this... I get these things generate some "cool" stuff but if you just keep scrolling, you'll forget about it in no time at all.

People say AI art is a disrespect to the original artists, but how is treating uninspired adopts like this any different? "AI art isn't real art" I'd agree any other day, but if this sentence is used to defend stealing it, I can't side by it :'o( out of respect for any artist who has had their work exploited by these machines, I can't in my right mind support ai adopts and the practise of stealing those adopts. 

And like, that's not JUST aimed at AI art. I just think that mindset is part of a greater problem in the adopt community. I've seen people justify copying Lupis Vulpes's characters because she's LGBTphobic, despite these characters belonging to other people these days. I'm ace and non-binary, but I still think that's disgusting and a huge disrespect to both the owners of these characters and the original creator. So like it actually really doesn't surprise me more and more people I follow have been making their characters auth only, with me also seeing this general mindset pop up more often.

Blegh, sorry for the negativity! I had to get it off my chest. Long story short: yarrrrgh! Steal booty only from ye large corporations and not ye fellow man. Respect yer crew! There is honour amongst thieves! YARRRRGH!! RAISE THE SAILS, LAD! FOR WE ARRRRE SAILING TOWARDS A BETTER TOMORROW! 🏴‍☠️⚔
