Kade thinks of Meadow as his best friend, mainly because she's the only one in the friend group that doesn't seem annoyed by his presence. He sees that she sticks up for him, and honestly? That's good enough for him. [He may or may not also have a crush on her AS WELL AS savannah may oops]
Meadow doesn't have a huge opinion about Kade to be honest? She does, however, try to fight anyone who says mean things about him or misgenders him. She's learned enough from her sister at this point to know that the underdogs are to be looked out for and to fight those who treat them badly.
Darcy is Ella's BABY. Although she's older than Meadow by two years, she came into the family after her...so Eleanor tends to spoil her rotten as much as she did Meadow.
Eleanor was a little bit sad when Darcy started to favor Jasper...but the two of them do like to [playfully, not meanly!!] joke about him in Mandarin from time to time, knowing he won't catch on to their antics! Ella was also a bit...mortified when she first saw that Darcy started cutting up her clothes and painting on them.
However, watching her express herself artistically in her own way has been a huge joy for Eleanor. This was especially true when she realized some of Darcy's early inspiration was Ella's own art, and the flower crowns she taught both her daughters to make!
Darcy adores her mom!! Although as she grew and learned more English, she became closer to her dad...Eleanor [and her Lao Lao (grandma) and Lao Ye (grandpa)] was her "rock" when she was first adopted, as Jasper knew only very limited Mandarin, whatever Eleanor had taught him for fun up until then. At first, when Darcy needed something and Jasper didn't understand...Eleanor to the rescue!
However, Darcy learned very quickly...and ended up favoring her dad by juuuust a little. Darcy DOES love drinking tea with her mother, as well as watching her paint. Darcy's much more into finding and picking her food rather than growing it, so she doesn't really do much in the garden beyond occasionally picking tomatoes or cucumbers and munching on them. She prefers her walks in the woods with her dad, mushroom hunting and looking for things like ramps, burdock, dandelion, and wild black raspberries!
Darcy gets her stubbornness and fiery nature from Eleanor, but also her creativity. Where Eleanor is much more of a painter, Darcy is a DIY queen - she loooves to redesign clothes with different pieces of clothing she got at thrift stores, make accessories, even grabbing some of Ella's paints to paint on her shoes! She likes to think of her clothing style as...like her mom...but upgraded. She's even designed a few shirts FOR Eleanor!
No matter who she favors, Darcy adores both her parents a lot, and is honestly surprisingly not super curious about her bio family, despite all of the O'Learys [and the Lees! Eleanor's parents visit more frequently than her immediate family, however] traveling to China once a year.
