Ghanima's Bulletins

Gavenia's problem

Posted 1 year, 10 months ago by Ghanima

You know about those people, who keep attracting the wrong kind of people to date, no matter how hard they try?
Gavenia is like that.
She was created to be paired up with someone more powerful or ambitious than she is. Because I wanted to play her as someone who doesn't try very hard, and I wanted to see how it would affect her if she would hang out with someone more disciplined and hardworking.
Instead, she's had a steady flow of dumb, underachieving bums coming her way.
Some characters work, even when placed in role plays they were not created for. I have a few of those. Well, Gavenia is not like that.

So people, please: read her sheet and don't ask for her if your character doesn't fit. It won't work.

Sexuality

Posted 1 year, 11 months ago by Ghanima

I am removing any mention of my characters sexuality from the sheets.
Of course their sexuality is a part of who they are, but I feel having it in there gives off the impression that they were created for romance stories. This is not the case! All of my characters were created with the purpose to create full personalities, who learn and evolve. They are not lovebots.

I do like romance as long as it is not the focus of the story. There  should also be some character development and adventure. Also, the  romance should be well written. The characters should be allowed time to  work it all out and make mistakes. No quick "love on first sight"  stuff, followed by one or two successful (hence very boring to write)  dates and then suddenly they are in a relationship and/or the entire  role play is just about sex scenes. I do not write sex scenes. At all.  So forcing that stuff in is just rude.

Role Playing no go's

Posted 2 years, 21 days ago by Ghanima

I don't like it when people skip every scene that has no romance and describe endless scenes of who touches who where. People force the characters into a relationship as soon as they can, then drop the role play. Very boring.

People who ignore my attempts to make my female characters anything else but lovebots for their OC.

People who make the role play all about them. They take over all of the background characters and write so, that they are in control of basically the whole story line. They play overdramatic characters who suck the life out of the role play. Or they complain about every ability my character has, but make theirs OP.

People who don't read my rules and/or bio sheets. Some don't even try. They answer my search thread with ideas that don't match what I'm looking for at all. Then they are surprised things don't work out.

People who drop surprises on me regarding the basics of the characters and/or story line, that change the role play drastically. I am not a control freak, but this is a shared project. In my search threads, I specifically ask for partners who are willing to plot together, and who share information about their character before we start playing. I am not interested in being "surprised". And NO, if I know something about your character, it doesn't mean my character knows this. Because I am not my character.

Immediate deal breakers: controlling my character, sexism, sex/fetishes.

Ghosting is whenever someone stops responding forever, without telling the other person about it. It has nothing to do with when and how long the other person is online or with when someone was logged into the site, or with the reasons why you dropped out of contact.

I don't think ghosting is the worst that can happen. The above mentioned things annoy me a lot more. When I get ghosted, I usually figure that whatever the problem is (real life issues or bad communication skills) it's for the best.

If someone vanished and returns after months, I may even be willing to pick up the role play again. Depending on how our contact was and if I still remember what the role play was about.

roleplaying add

Posted 2 years, 3 months ago by Ghanima

I  am looking for a RP partner (25+) who can communicate with me when something is not to their liking. Someone who likes planning together, and who likes talking about worldbuilding and about our characters.

I am not into one liners or novel length posts. I am a laid back writer. I won't complain about grammar or short posts now and then, as long as the text is still readable and you help move the story along.

I like playing multiple characters, and I like doubling up.

I am looking for someone who is into slow burn, who loves character development. I am looking for someone who is interested in flawed characters, who mean well but make the wrong decisions. Characters who don't always get along that well, and who don't always succeed. I want the relationship between our characters to build up during the role play.

I want to do a combination of adventure and slice of life. I like romance but it has to make sense! I want to feel the chemistry between our characters, and I don't want it to be the only thing the roleplay is about. I have straight, biseksual and gay/lesbian characters.

I do NOT do sex scenes or drama with children/pregnancies. Controlling my character is a deal breaker.

I would like a character sheet for your character, or if you don't have one, a short description of their job, personality and what kind of fantasy creature they are.

Modern Fantasy 1

Raina is a loner; strong willed, guarded and kind of blunt. She's a witch who works odd jobs, wanting to stay under the radar, and is desperate to find her sister, who vanished years ago. Little does she know that her personal quest is about to get her right in the middle of a war between two vampire clans...

Is your character also on a quest, and do they find out they have similar interests? Or is your character tied to the vampire clan, somehow, and they want Raina to help them get out, do the right thing or even take a part in the upcoming vampire war?

Modern Fantasy 2

Kaylee and/or Raina, witch police agents, have to keep a demon safe, who is an informant/witness.
A demon clan is collecting power in order to transport some of the  bigger demons to our dimension. One of the demons offers the supernaturals valuable information that will protect them from the horde, in exchange for safety. He has taken a liking to the human world, and wants out of the horde to start a life here, on Earth. Is the demon trustworthy or is he just playing the supernaturals,  working a scheme for his horde?

Is your character the demon? Another police agent or an informant who helps my characters out?

Modern Fantasy 3

Gavenia is independent, clever and a little guarded. Being a PI, trained in witchcraft, she is observant and a  good listener. Gavi is not a particularly powerful witch... Or a particularly ambitious one. She just wants to solve the riddle and have a cold beer afterwards.

I want to pair her up with a character that does have special/strong magic and/or who is very ambitious.

Your character comes to her, wanting her help to solve a case. But soon, Gavi realizes your character is hiding something, and, feeling this might be of importance to the case, she starts to try and figure out what the secret is. ... Will your character realize she's onto him/her? Will he/she put more effort into hiding their secret, or will they start playing Gavi, leading her astray?

And maybe Gavenia has something to hide, herself... A reason why she lives alone in this big city, with seemingly no ties that bind her...

I use email, discord and PM.

TITLE

After I posted Gavenia's add on some places, I got a staggering amount of replies from people, wanting to play overpowered characters. Who knew there's so many of those?

And if I ask for a character, more powerful than mine, that doesn't mean I ask for an overpowered character!!!

Also, it turns out the add was too brief. I wasted a lot of time, talking to people about the rules I like in my role plays.

RP add for Gavenia

Posted 2 years, 7 months ago by Ghanima

This is the add I wrote.
I think it was a pretty inspired, nice add.

I am an adult woman, looking for adult partners who also love modern fantasy.

I have a witch, working as a PI, who is looking for company. She  would love to unravel the mysteries from your characters past. ... Find  out what horrors are lurking in the shadows, waiting for the right time  to strike.

... And maybe the reason why she loves digging into other people's   messes is because she has a secret of her own, that she ran from, and   that she prefers never to think of again.

Gavenia is not  a particularly powerful witch. Or a particularly  ambitious one. She  just likes to solve riddles, and have a cold beer  afterwards. She would  probably do well when combined with someone more  powerful and/or  ambitious, just to see how that will affect her.

I am looking for a RP partner who can communicate with me when  something  is not to their liking. Someone who likes planning together  and helps  move the RP along. Someone who loves character development,  and  combining this with adventure, slice of life silliness and maybe  some  romance..?

roleplaying rules

Posted 2 years, 7 months ago by Ghanima

I am a woman of over 35 years old, searching for a modern fantasy roleplay.

I am looking for an easy going, slow paced story that is a mix between romance and adventure. I play witches, modern fantasy.

YES:

- be over 25 years old

- character driven

- funny

- playing multiple characters M/F

- flawed characters

- character sheets (can be brief)

- I love drama but please don't overdo it and don't make it all about your character.

-  I love romance but there should be more to it than the characters,  falling in love at first sight and them, getting along after that. I  want conflict and complications! And just friendship is fine, also.

- planning together

- paragraph style

- third person

- help move the RP along

- OOC chat

NO:

- one liners

- complicated plots

- complicated worldbuilding

- dumping surprises on me; please plan together and communicate.

- epic world saving plots

- overpowered characters

- controlling my characters is a dealbreaker.

- seks/fetishes

- Yes, I can play men but I will only do so if we double up.

These are my ideas:

I have some storyline ideas, but I prefer  to tailor the story to our characters. Mainly I just want to play my  characters and have them make  friends.
The characters I want to play:

Kaylee (She is open to connecting with anyone, no matter how different from her, but she hates clingy types and she will overpower shy characters. She is not the traditional homely, cookie-baking girl who dreams of her wedding day. She prefers adventure! She has a special thing for men/women who are different in some way, because they are interesting and beautiful  to  her!) and Raina (She's very protective, and a little rude, but will do anything for you if you're nice to her, although you'll also need to be able to oppose her if she goes too far.) I  want to play these characters together, since they are sisters.

Gavenia (she is not a particularly powerful witch, and might be fun to combine  with a character that does have special/strong magic, or who is very ambitious in another field than magic)
