Unfortunately I would love to offer them as comms but they'd be quite pricey ($50+) for the time and detail they pack SOB, so they might be difficult to buy!! but I've added you to my general pinglist, thank you smm for your interest!! I've found that so much of what gives shading depth and interest is (bear with me) eyes and coloured lineart!! find a good way to colour a characters' eyes - it pays off, believe me >:3c Often an artpiece will look soulless (even with complete shading) till the above is applied. Same for coloured lineart - it can be a hurdle at times but it makes the shading pop sm
additionally, for softer/casual shading I try not to stray too much from the "source material" - the colour that appears most on the character! (e.g. typically in my case a yellow character will have orange shading as a base.)
If the character is warm-toned, I like to layer on top of this a blue (which is actually reddish gray in disguise, such as this) which has a super cool effect!! if the character is requiring of blue tones, however, I'll move to the blue end of the spectrum. And if the character is blue, I avoid the double layer altogether X)
but remember to avoid overshading!! If there's a point when you zoom out and the artwork is completely unintelligible, that's likely an indicator that there's too much going on. I may not be an ace at rendering but I love my minimalism regardless \^.^/

oohh I don't have any formal rules set in place regarding changes since I believe in redesign liberties; I simply (lightly) advise against changing designs too heavily because it defeats the purpose of purchasing an original character ^__^ That's merely a recommendation, however - you're free to design how you like, as long as the proper creation credit remains front and center! c:
Sorry for the late reply!! Assuming you mean allowing the character's worth to represent currency and using that to indirectly sell / three way trades, I'm completely fine with such as long as the price is not being inflated in the process. Please correct me if I misunderstand the question :3c

As for offers, I have an unwritten (that probably should be written) policy that offering on characters is always allowed for trades that match their value (so it doesn't seem like I'm actively purging my TH LOL).
I understand that may be a bit vague however, so I have this 'perhaps' tag that includes characters that I will slightly consider letting go of till I can develop them further! Likewise, any character with the symbol '✧' or no symbol at all in their name is open to offers ^v^ hope this helps!!
