Despite their nearly ten year age difference, Kara gets along very well with her step-sister. Saturn is a huge role model to her. Being a professional surfer is Kara's dream, and the fact that her step-sis has won medals and trophies for her surfing abilities, she's very inspired. She wants to be just like her someday! It is hard to be away from her for so long, though... Due to being famous in the surfing scene, Saturn travels a lot entering various competitions all over the world, so they don't see each other very often. Kara does get lonely without her guidance.
Saturn loves her little step-sister. She enjoys giving her advice and surfing lessons when she's around. She doesn't see Kara very often, but when she does, she really enjoys their time together. Saturn does wish that Kara would see someone about her problems, though. She doesn't mind being there for her sister, but she wasn't around when Kara's mother left, so she doesn't entirely understand the situation. Still, she's there to lend an ear and a shoulder to cry on when she's around... Even though she knows Kara wishes she would hang around longer. It's hard to balance the life of a pro surfer and a big sister, after all.
Sunni doesn't understand why Kara always seems to be upset about something! Why so gloomy all the time? She doesn't really get it. Still, she likes hanging out when she's visiting Skye in their dorm. Kara is really good at board games, and that's fun! Sunni is sure that if she tries harder, she'll be able to crack that icy exterior clinging to Kara and they'll become besties. She just knows it.
Sunni is... a lot. Kara thinks her endless positivity is kind of annoying. Nobody can be that optimistic all the time, right? Sunni is nice, though. Kara doesn't hate her. They became friends through mutual classes and tend to still hang out since Skye and Sunni are really good friends and, well... Kara lives with Skye, so she sees quite a lot of Sunni. Kara doesn't really understand why Sunni is so nice to her and wants to talk to her so often.
Kara has been friends with Sadie since she moved to California as a kid! Sadie shares a lot of her same interests, and the two have a friendship that go way back. They bond over surfing and swimming. Kara thinks Sadie is great, and regards her as her best friend. Sadie knows a lot about Kara that most people don't.
Sadie loves Kara! They're best friends and she'll always be there for her. While she can't understand what Kara goes through, she knows she can always be there to lend a helping hand.
Skye finds Kara a little bit intimidating! She loves living with her and Freyah, but Kara is the type of person who can be happy one moment and angry the next, which makes Skye a little afraid to talk to her. Still, she likes her! Kara is interesting and is really talented on her surf board. Skye hopes whatever is bothering her doesn't hurt her too much! Kara deserves to be happy too.
Kara shares her dorm with Skye as well as Freyah. She likes Skye, but does find her a little bit exhausting. Skye has a lot of energy and never seems to calm down, which overwhelms Kara most days, but she tries to remain patient with her. Still, it's hard when she comes home from class and Skye has left glitter and paper scraps all over the floor... Doesn't that girl understand how to clean up after herself?
Kara is one of Freyah's roommates. She likes Freyah well enough, they're good friends. Kara appreciates Freyah's endless patience, especially when she's having a particularly bad day. Though she does wish Freyah would care about more than her grades. School isn't everything there is in life.
Freyah shares a dorm with Kara. She enjoys her company. Freyah, being a psychology student, is well equipped (most of the time) to deal with Kara's mood swings. She understands that trauma is hard to deal with, even if Kara won't share all the details of what's bothering her.
Kara has mixed feelings about Zakari. She doesn't hate him, but she doesn't like him. She can't exactly explain why. He's annoying in a cute sort of way... If "cute" is awkward and quiet, that is.
Maybe she dislikes him because of how much she relates to him, and that scares her. Getting close to someone and letting them know her vulnerabilities is terrifying... So why not try to push them away before they get the chance to hurt you?
Zakari is intimidated by Kara's ability to change moods at the drop of a hat. While he thinks she's scary, he also really, really likes her. A lot. He'd never let her know, though... Especially since that would require being in biting range.
He really does want to get to know her better, but it does get frustrating that every time he attempts to, she pushes him away.
