Mountain Sound is set in the fictional town of Lone Mountain during the 1980s. The small town is located in the Pacific Northwest, nestled between the sea and the mountains. You play as 26 year old August Woods, a recent college graduate who grew up there. After a turbulent childhood and early adulthood, August moved away from Lone Mountain to attend college somewhere across the country. After graduating and experiencing his greatest hardship yet, he finds himself lost with no where to turn. His life is at a standstill and his dreams aren't panning out the way he expected them to. While trying to pick up the pieces of his life, August realizes he can no longer stay in his college town. He needs to get away, to find himself, and he feels the best way to do that is to return to where he came from. This is when he decides to return to Lone Mountain. But his relationship with his family is strained and complicated, and he has few friends left after leaving. With the help of one friend, however, he is able to find a job at a local bookstore and the owners allow him to rent the apartment above it. On top of struggling with feelings of hopelessness, depression, and grief, being back home means August is also faced with past trauma and friends. However, as you move through the story, August begins to make new connections and reignite old ones as he discovers love, healing, and purpose. 

Mountain Sound will be a dating simulator/visual novel style game. You will play as August, and have the choice between 8 different routes based on 8 dateable characters. The story will differ depending on your choices and which character you choose to date. Mountain Sound is 18+ and will discuss subjects such as sexuality, gender, homophobia, drug use & addiction, alcoholism, violence, grief, & terminal illness as well as physical, sexual, and religious abuse..
