Once, Ilana was their trusted confidant. Now, she's their biggest regret. Jayang hopes to find a way to free Ilana from her deathless confinement before they pass on so they can be with Kayin.
Once Jayang's most devoted follower, millennia of functioning as a living lock for the wildest magic on the planet has worn Ilana down both in mind and soul. While she does not regret her loyalty, she does regret the lengths it drove her to, and given the chance to try again, she would have taken a different path.
❝ i'm...not used to being properly close to people. percy is no exception. ❞
Dakota is viscerally uncomfortable with the relationship she has with Percy--if only because of how genuine and heartfelt it is. She hates properly trusting someone and caring about them, and unfortunately, Percy gets to discover that along with her.
Percy likes Dakota a lot; in fact, it wouldn't be a stretch to say he thinks of her somewhat like a little sister. While he would never say they're exactly alike, their ways of thinking are similar enough that he's able to empathize with her. Of course, that means he also knows exactly how much she hates that he's able to do that in the first place, so he tries to push it too often.
Scher's #1 Fan. They love and support everything she does and is perfectly fine being embarrassing about it. Turns into an absolute wifeguy when Scher is around.
Sybil is Scher's favorite piece of jerky--
His surprisingly sincere care has warmed her up to him a lot and now she seeks him out to bite/chew/get attention/etc.
Is frequently surprised by how well their personalities mesh.
They gave Beat a home when she needed it most. She sympathizes with their grief over a certain someone's disappearance, but neither is she willing to allow them to fester because of it.
Originally they only really consider her to be a pitiful kid that their lover picked up--but Parva can't ignore the abandoned, and they feel a sense of kinship with her circumstances that goes beyond their shared ex-mutuals. Beat is the reason they didn't lie down and give up.
Any loyalty Beat may have had for Fennyl evaporated the moment she heard him call her a loose end. She intends to stop his plans by any means necessary, but not out of any sense of justice. If anything, her actions are driven by grief and heartbreak.
Though he may call her a tool and a loose end, Beat is irreplaceable to Fennyl, and his plans involve bringing her back to his side, whether she wants to be there or not.
Sybil adores his foster sister with all his heart, but he watches his tongue around her lest she catch on to what's really going on. She's wrestling with her own demons and he doesn't want to add his own to her pile.
Following Fisher's death, Pirta became more attached to Sybil and regrets leaving him in the clutches of the Hewes Home after she aged out. When he asked to move in with her, she was overjoyed, gifting him the pink lenses he wears daily to help him control his postcognition. Pirta is fully aware something is wrong in Sybil's world, but she would rather him come to her about it, as she's afraid pushing too much will make him slip through her fingers and she'll lose another beloved brother.
While they work well together, Sybil would prefer Irene stay far away for both their sakes. He misses her, but he wants to keep her at arm's length as she's the only one with full knowledge of his past. However, if you were to outright ask if they hate her, their response would be, "Of course not. SHE hates ME."
While they work together, Irene can't find it in herself to forgive Sybil for his involvement in the Jack the Ripper case in their youth. In spite of this, she wants to help him and can't understand why he refuses to let her near his business despite all her pressing. However, if you were to outright ask if she hates him, her response would be, "Of course not. HE hates ME."
He wants to be worthy of her.
He's a little weird but that's what she likes about him.
