Hello!
They Might Be Giants (often abbreviated to "TMBG") is an American alternative music group from Brooklyn, NY. The group was founded by John Flansburgh and John Linnell, and has since expanded to include a backing band, currently composed of Dan Miller, Danny Weinkauf, and Marty Beller. Throughout their 42-year career, the band has racked up several charting albums and singles, as well as two Grammy awards (one for their song "Boss Of Me", and the other for their children's album Here Come The 123s). Additionally, their 1990 album Flood has been certified Platinum, while the DVD of Here Come The ABCs achieved Gold status. The band continues to record alternative albums, and have also branched out into the realm of children's music.
Please Note
- In an essay for Modern Drummer, Marty Beller stated that he generated the percussion for this song using his knuckles on the body of an acoustic guitar.
- The year 2082 will mark 100 years after They Might Be Giants formed as a band in 1982.
- The horn arrangement for this song was done by Stan Harrison.
- For this song, Linnell used his plastic Yamaha bass clarinet (model YCL-221ii), which "didn't cost too much and stood up to the punishment of the road better than a wooden one would."
