Nethercow City is Voltcurrent's main setting location and is the largest Nethercow settlement in the story. It is full of neon and other various lights, and features a great focus on its scientific research as well as its rich and diverse culture. The city has a layered skyline, with older structures lying beneath the newer ones, creating a subterranean cityscape full of historical buildings. The newer buildings are much more modern and are mostly highrises, with interwoven train and subway lines connecting both parts of the city seamlessly.

Powered entirely using solar energy after a shift away from fossil fuel, the city is facing frequent blackouts and a lack of power supply due to aging solar batteries and panels. Replacing these would be easy if the city itself had not been built around them, making replacement costly and would impact the lives of many of its residents. Instead, Engineers will have to come up with a new solution that is future proof for replacements as well as still being environmentally friendly.
